Bent-over barbell rows?

Oh yeah…posterior…whoops

How I do bent-over rows – I’m rather tall, so I can do this and still have a full range of motion: My back is almost parallel with the ground. My legs are set strongly, bent at the knees and my waist bent to the point that it has a bit of contact with my quads, thus giving some support to my lower back. I deadlift and do power cleans, so I’m not trying to make the rows a lower back movement, and I find that the contact of my quads to the lower part of my stomach helps maintain stability in that area allowing me to make a clean move with heavy weights. My arms extend all the way to the floor, and I pull the barbell to just below my pecs, maintaining a firm stomach and lower back constantly for stability and to lessen chances of an injury. Sometimes, just to mix things up, I row like Yates, with my back angled more upwards. I’m notsure if I prefer one method over the other, mostly just depends on my mood.

Mitch: I think I was right – it doesn’t sound like you were eating nearly enough while on Mag-10! If I may ask, what’s your bodyfat percentage? I ask because you’re slightly bigger than I based on height and weight alone(I’m 5’9" and ~195), yet you claim your maintenance calorie level is 2800. Mine is about 3600, and I’m not even that active outside the gym! If you check out the Growth Surge phase II article on T-Mag, you’ll see that based on your size you should’ve been eating close to 5000 calories a day while on.

Rob: Sounds like you did slightly better than Mitch, but are you sure you ate as many calories as you think you did? If so, maybe you’re just a minimal responder. Sorry. It sucks, but somebody’s got to be. After all, if average gains for 2 weeks on Mag-10 are 10-15 pounds, then some people are gaining 20 and some (you, namely) are gaining only 5.

thanks for the input. i think i will try kamali’s first, just because i know him and we communicate through email every now and then, so hopefully i can sucker him into giving me a discount. i totally want to check out the yates video. sucks for me though, NO blockbuster in the denver area carries pumping iron! (ive called 10 different stores)

Sorry. My last post was supposed to go in the thread entitled “Mag-10 cycle”. No more crack before bed for me! -Zev

high bent over barbell rows to the chest are a mainstay in my training program. A variation is bent over dumbell rows to the deltoids. I do pullups and deadlifts to supplement the other back muscles. laters pk
