A little background. I’ve been using a Metal Pro double poly for the past 18 months; it has been a good shirt, but I feel like it’s time to move on as I think I have gotten all I can out of it. Although it has a pretty good pop off the chest, but it stretches out way too damn fast. My next meet isn’t until the end of September, which leaves me a good amount of time to get to work with something.
I’m not married to buying another Metal shirt and also considering whether to decide between poly or a double denim. I know a lot of guys are doing well with the Inzer RageX (double), while others might be kicking ass with the Titan Katana, or a KK denim, etc., etc. In your recommendation, could you possibly just put a quick snippet why you like the shirt over others you’ve used in the past.

No, no they weren’t.
Besides… I thought you woulda like the Rage-X cos you’re sponsored by Inzer…
LOL. unbiased and unfiltered recommendation.
To the OP, I’ve never used a double, but as far as single ply goes the Katana is hands down my favorite. Incredible pop of the chest and the sleeve design carries with you all the way to top. Takes a lot of the grind out of the lift towards the top. Inzer aint bad either. A few years ago I used a single ply closed back phenom that I loved and still use in training from time to time.

I’ll qualify this with a note that your mileage WILL vary, this is what I found:
Inzer RageX -Double
-This is a solid, well rounded shirt, good at the bottom, good at the top. The groove is forgiving until you get very tight: in all a great shirt. I preferred it without grid stitch and a little tighter in the chest for a little more lockout. All of mine had superneck and a 1" scoop.
Katana -Double w/grid stitch
-Too much stop, not enough ROM. If you get one that fits EXACTLY right they work, but are still hell to touch in. Too hard to be consistent in even if it does fit. I would not recommend.
Katana -Single
-This is the dominant shirt in most single ply leagues… If you like Titan, go with one of these in a single, many people are using them in double ply leagues quite effectively. Ken Anderson at painclinic is doing some interesting modifications if your league allows.
KK Double Denim
-Get the Militia cut. This is the shirt I am using now, and I cannot find another that works as well. This will only work if you use a big-arch-low touch style and have a very strong lockout, but if you do, it is the gear. I know some folks have been having trouble with blowouts lately; caveat emptor. Ginny Phillips is making a shirt much like this one now, but I haven’t tried it.
Inzer Double Denim
Get the reinforced shoulders and neck and radical cut. This has always been a good shirt, and pretty much the only other denim worth considering. It has always lagged a bit behind the best of the KK in performance but is more widely available and a bit more robust.
Inzer Super Phenom
Make sure you get the super and not just a double; the collars are different. I’m still trying to get the fit right, but think this will be an amazing shirt when I do. Has to be crazy-tight to get the most out of.
Inzer Ultimate Denim
Like the double Katana, has way too much stop. Pretty much impossible to be consistent in unless it’s too loose.
Metal Denim
-Blew out as soon as I got any support

Damn, very thorough review!! BTW, what do you consider a strong lockout? My weakness is in the transition, big jump from 3 board to 4 board.

Shit, this thread is up to 7 posts already, and hasn’t turned into a geared vs raw debate yet. Everyone must be away for the 4th.
Yeah, amazing isn’t it?
And wow, your 2000th post. Congrats on being a post whore, Modi. Have a good holiday weekend.
You too buddy. Don’t blow anything up, or light anything on fire.
And now that I’m over 2000 posts, everyone will hold all of my posts in higher regard. Because the more posts you have, the smarter you are…or stronger you are, or something like that.

I think it’s both.
BTW, saw the kitchen pics. Nice work. If I tried that, it would be Homer Simpsonesque and the cabinet doors would be sideways or something.
Novaer, if you consistently stall in the transition, then denim might be good for you. Typically I try to be able to to do a 2" pin press (raw) with about 50 pounds more than my target shirted lift. If that lags I find myself getting stuck at the top.
“Ken Anderson at painclinic is doing some interesting modifications if your league allows.”
Just a point real quick about Ken Anderson and The Pain Clinic. Two different Titan dealers. The Pain Clinic is owned by Mike Kenney in Rochester, NY and is outstanding in price and service.
So is Kenny Anderson. You won’t go wrong with either one for service.
I lift under IPF, so can only comment on the IPF allowed shirts.
Titan Fury I dropped because I use an arch.
Titan F6:
I used to like this the most, my theory is that it supports very well throughout the lift, and when I get the bar more than halfway up and back over the head I can lockout pretty much anything.
I did 175 kg @ 98 kg in a F6 size 42. My best for a meet. This is 9 month or so ago.
The last 3 weeks I have been retesting my shirts, F6 42, Katana 42, X rage 44. Im at around 95 kg now
F6 I could touch 130 or 140 and pressed 150 ok.
Katana I needed 165 to touch and the press 170.
X rage I did press 180 from half an inch over my chest.
All in all the Katana fits me best at the moment, but a F6 40 might be the right choise when I get a bit lighter.
One thing about the F6 though is that you wear it out pretty fast.
That’s crazy that you can get into a shirt so small. I needed 150 to touch in my 44 F6 when I was 101kg, 177.5 is what it takes in my 44 Katana to touch at 97kg now.
The Katana is the best shirt I’ve used so far. I reckon I get approx 40-50kg out of it, but should probably be getting more.
I’ve train shirted bench once a week every week + is build very good for shirted bench. Also Im more fat than buff currently, so my chest measurament is allows for a tight shirt.
