Bench Press Advice for a Recovering Wrist

So a couple years ago I was hit by a car while riding my bike, dislocated/broke my wrist and had to get surgery to put a permanent screw in one of the bones (scaffoid). Long story short, it hasn’t recovered completely yet. I can free weight bench press just fine, but when it comes to flat bar I am unable to lock out my left arm due to a restriction of motion in my wrist. As a result, my chest has suffered severely. Any tips on good chest exercises that don’t require a flat bar?

How about using dumbbells and/or dual (dual as in each side/lever moves independently of its counterpart)? If you don’t have a spotter / training partner to help with with setting up the dbs for heavy pressing, just perform the exercises unilaterally.

Every since I had damaged my wrists, they don’t play fine with each other, anymore. So, bb pressing movements are out of question.

Besides, you’re saying ‘it hasn’t recovered completely yet’. Are you implying that recovery is actually still ongoing after having had the surgery and rehab ‘a couple years ago’?

Anyway, don’t let that deter you from training.

Good luck and have fun, dude!

Does anyone read and view the thousands of articles, books, and video clips available to us anymore?

There are some specialty bars available at elitefts… Those might help… Lots of links in fatty’s t-cell thread, check it out, he’s had messed up wrists for some time and knows how to train around that issue.
