Belt Placement

Im wondering proper placement for a powerlifting style belt (same thickness all the way around) as well as the tightness one uses. It kinda becomes second nature, the placement, for my self it tends to be somewhat high, on the upper abs, yet I see many lifter wearing it like a trouser belt. any advice i would appreciate thanks in advance.

I wear mine pretty low and loose for bench and squat and accessory stuff. It’s pretty much there just to hold my gear in place and give some emotional support. For deadlifting, I wear mine high- I just like to get the extra support like that when I pull heavy.
