Beginner Program for Partner?

Hi ladies, though it ask you directly. My partner is a slim 5,5 130lb woman she would like to get stronger but she cant perform a single pull up. I tried to show her some squats with an empty bar bell and she even struggled with that however she can rep body weight squats.

Is there anyone here that has started in the same boat and has an idea how to start her off? Or knows a great starter program? I though of the strong lifts 5 X 5 as its nice and easy to follow for some one new to lifting.

New Rules of Lifting for Women ( a book) is a great start. It talks about all kinds of things and illustrates how to do everything and gives you a program to follow.

Pullups are damn hard I know lots of women that have been working out for a long time and still cant do one.

Squats will come as stability gets better. Keep her with body weight ones until she is good at that then move to the bar or even a broom stick.

Often our bodies just need to get used to the new movements before we can do them comfortably.

~cheers!

Great thanks! Might get a good body weight routine going before the book arrives.
