Beef v. Chicken

Is it true that beef and fatty types of meat are better for recovery and muscle building than lean meats such as chicken and turkey? I know red meat is often called muscle meat and my bro tells me to ditch the chicken for some beef to grow, but I just feel like that’s bro-science. Protein is protein, calories are calories, etc.

I’ll second his bro science. Nothing puts muscle on my like heavy amounts of ground beef and steak. I get so sick of chicken and hate choking it down half the time as well. Beef has creatine, B vitamins, fats among other things that are lacking in chicken.

both are fine. If you need extra calories then obviously beef would be a better choice, or if you just plain like it better.

I see no reason that both can’t be in a good nutritional plan. In fact, just had some steak and bacon (packs protein too ya know) and will cook up some drumsticks tomorrow night.

Though we usually do ground beef, I really need to learn how to cook steak better :frowning:

I just saw on the news how bad steak is for you. I know that is all BS but why would they even say it highers your chance of dying young 25%?

98% of all statistics are made up

I go for Chicken PWO because its easier IMO to eat a large amount in one sitting 400grams+ and it digests quicker than Beef. I follow up with a large Beef Steak before bed. Chicken for the protein Beef for the Nutrients (thinking Zinc mostly) I prefer Beef for all other meals except PWO.

85/15 Ground Chuck is a staple in my diet. I eat quite a bit every day. (Obviously I’m not the biggest guy here, but big guys eat it).

The other main reason I eat it is cost. 85/15 Ground Chuck is only 2.79 a pound here. Once I graduate and get a job, fish will become a part of my diet too.

Probably the way I tend to cook it. But I generally find that for the same “volume” of meat, Beef is far more filling. Oh and thats 400grams+ of uncooked food weight not protein grams or whatever (: LOL

Ohhhhh, hahahah I was like WTF.

Beef vs. chicken?

YES.

Im basically on a Keto cutting diet since the beginning of February, and I’m sure the 500g of brisket a day has been the thing helping me get stronger while i do it

I Been wanting to eliminate chicken form my diet 100%. It wasn’t until December of 2011 that i started eating it again after 12+ months with out it. After the last 4 months including it, i’m just tired of it. Its slime, easy to dry out nature, its way about spoiling… Just nasty.

I been wanting to add chop meat back into my diet after just eating london broil. I think i’ll finally see if it cooks well on my new oven or if i gotta go with the foreman grill.

Thanks for posting this. Some of the replies which spoke about extra calories, better for muscle growth and zinc content gave me some science to support some of my gut feelings.

So long

I guess I should switch over to eating chicken soon. Nothing better than lean meat!
