What was the assumption? He asked you a question, and was perfectly serious about it.

This isn’t bb.com, most of the people here aren’t like the people over there either.

I apologize if it appeared that I was assuming something about you, as that was not my intent. I was actually asking if you did cook and eat a meal before posting this, as I was unsure if you did or did not do that. I feel like this would be your best avenue toward success, as your current approach (by your own admission) has been unsuccessful.

I have legitimate interest in helping you, as the goal you are pursuing is one that I have had moderate success in.

Ok I couldn’t resist it. I found your profile on bodybuilding dot com.

You’ve weighed 175lbs since 2013! Wtf?!

On a seperate note, some genius there proclaimed he could see a “roid gut” on Bradley Cooper in a thread about the American Sniper Workout. Lololol

I am gonna make a training log soo am a lot more organised as the mind can play tricks but anyways heres the workout i did today.

SS: Squats 3x5 22kg 3x5 Standing press 3x5 28kg, Deadlifts 1x5 63kg.

I started it a few weeks ago with just a bar (5kg) and added 2 or 5lbs to bench press/standing presses and 10lbs to deadlifts every workout but because i did not use a log, i was forgetting to add weight to the bar (i allways remembered deadlifts thro) and am starting too low as i didnt know my reps maxes.

I use to only use 2 warm ups (2x5…empty bar and 5kg) but now i just use 5 warm ups (2x5 empty bar 1x5 40% 1x3 60% 1x1 or 2 80% of the working sets.

Is this a good start or am i going light?

I think you’re starting too light, given how you’re currently eating. I don’t feel it’s appropriate to intentionally overeat if you’re not yet challenging your body.

I also don’t think it makes sense to “work on form” if you’ve not yet lifted anything heavy enough. This is usually the reasoning for starting so light, however, until you know know how your body behaves when the weight is heavy, you can’t mimic that form with the lighter weight.

I would take a session and work up in sets of 5 for each lift. Start with the bar for presses and squats, 135 for deadlifts. Do a set of 5. Add 5-10lbs for presses; 10-15lbs for squats/deadlifts, do a set of 5. Rest as much between sets as you want. Repeat until you hit a weight that you can’t do 5 good reps with.

Once you have that, take the weight you did a good set of 5 with (roughly your 5RM), multiply by .7, and round up to the closest 5lb weight. Then use that as your starting weights.

This will probably take you a long time, just because of the jumps. Feel free to take bigger jumps in the beginning. Also, no need to do this for every lift in one session. Break it up across a couple days if you want.

So, as an example, with squats.

45 x 5
65 x 5
85 x 5
105 x 5
115 x 5
125 x 5
135 x 5 ← last good set of 5
145 x 3

Then, multiply by .7 to get 94.5. Round it up to 95. Then resume your linear progression using 95 for squats.

This was in pounds, but I’m sure you can convert.

Ok so i should for example on bench press…1 set with 10lb empty barbell, 2nd set with 20lbs, 3rd set 30 etc untill i find my 5 rep max, do i do this in one or two workouts with every exercise before using 40% 60% 80% (1x5, 1x3, 1x1 or 2 reps followed by 3 x 5 working weight.

What about testing for 5RM?

I been reading SS and the first 2 warm ups are with just the bar (apart from deadlifts) and stays like that even when the other 3 warm up and the 3 working sets go up.

I gave you a basic way to find your 5RMs. Take 70% of those, and resume your program using those numbers. Don’t do this every time… just do it once to find your approximate 5RMs.

If you’d rather not do that, just do the program as it’s written.

Also, don’t worry too much about the warmups. In your other thread, I also explained one way to do that. Either way, exactly how you do your warmup doesn’t matter too much at this point. The most important thing for you to do is to learn how to do the lifts and to push yourself. You don’t need to be perfect at either of those; you’ll get better with time.

I dunno as my scales are fucked, i was about 183lbs but a few days i weighed 175lbs lol…i have used 3 scales including the one i have at home, it said 183lbs but a few days later, i currently weight 175lbs lol…sometimes my scales say i weigh a bit more or less lol.

My family recken my scales are dodgy lol.
So in about a month and a half you’ve (at best) lost a pound? Do you have any extra strength to show for your effort?
I been 185lbs for 3 weeks then suddenly in 5 days, according to my scales, am 175lbs which in my opinion is a load of bollocks as weight dos not go down that fast.

Effort? lol i been a bit lazy but am gonna give my self a big kick up the arse and be well over 200lbs like a rugby forward, strongman or powerlifter…what do you think of home weighing scales?
What you are going to do means nothing, what you have done is all that counts.

I think home weighing scales do what they say on the tin, I would be more concerned that you weighed 185 for a month and a half on a “bulk” than the brief blip last week. You would expect weight to fluctuate throughout the day and week. This is not something to concern yourself with compared to the fact that you are making zero progress towards your professed goal.

Bottom line: you need to either set yourself a solid goal and start making real progress towards it or find another hobby. I’ve heard Zumba is popular.
Off cause what am going to doo is more important and ‘that little blip last week’ wtf lol when did i ever say that it was one off blip…the bottom line is that my scales are crap…how can i weigh 185 then suddenly am 175 and i been that way for a while now…i am allready sorting my meal plan soo dont assume that i am wasting time.

Its just that guys like that idiot Scooby put a extremely low limit on everything saying you can only gain 5lbs in a year and that if you have a ffmi
You’re focusing on the wrong thing again. I think it speaks volumes that you seem more concerned about your scales being broken for 1 week than the 6 weeks before it where you didn’t gain a single pound.

Incidentally, if this guy Scooby is such an idiot, and sets such low standards (neither of which I’m disputing), then why are you failing to meet them?

You know, after all the ranting, don’t you think you should have made more progress over the years? 2013 till now and you’re still at the same bodyweight.

Somewhere out there, a Bruce Lee wannabe has made far more progress than you.

Stop obsessing about training routines and all this minor shit like warm up sets. Be like water, kid.

You obviously havent read my entire post as all you keep doing is assuming crap about me…i did not say my scales have been broke for only 1 week and before my scales fucked up, i weighed 184lbs…obviously if my scales are messed up then how am i gonna know if i am gaining?

Or and for the idiot who i think i have been 175lbs since 2013 without a change in weight ha ha ha i not updated that site since 2013 sooo once again you assumed wrong…assuming is the mother of all fuck ups…you guys keep assuming that i am looking for a shortcut (wrong) and been trying to choose a workout plan for years…nope i done reg park 5x5 but yess i been lazy with my meals and kept missing workouts but obviously i need to get serous with my workout plan, meal and sleep plan.

If i make another thread talking about workout plans or websites…its called curiosity, dos not mean i am gonna stop my current plan and move onto another routine because for example i am bored or as the ignorant say 'looking for that one shortcut.

Obviously i admit i have been overthinking it especially the warm ups.

It’s important that you realise that we aren’t knocking you to make ourselves feel better, there are some trolls and assholes on this site, but haven’t noticed any on your thread. I for one am just trying to get you to see the realities of the situation, which I think you are starting to grasp.

Let’s go back to the basics:
Where do you hope to be a month from now? Give me some numbers or a solid goal.
What eating plan do you have in place that will allow this to happen?

Oh, I’m sorry. You gained 9lbs in 2 years.

I think you’re ready to conjugate with lions!

Procrastination is the real mother of all fuck ups.

ROAR!!!

Conjugate with lions is by far my favorite running joke on this site.

And it’s only been around for a day.

We must do what we can to keep it alive.

This is a good, serious answer.

Many beginners struggle to understand this, when they don’t hear what they wanted to hear in their first thread. Conjugating with the lion jokes aside, we’re not doing this just to be funny. But beginners need to learn the following:

 1. You post question
 2. People reply to question
 3. You are free to agree, disagree, etc. Take the information and decide on your course of action.

However, in that process, you should realize that if someone posts something noting that you have failed to progress toward the goal you state that you desire, and they make a suggestion that would help you to that end…I mean, it’s real solid advice.

Punisher’s suggestion that you cook and eat a meal every time before you post, while humorous, would undeniably move you closer to your stated goal of the Bear Mode / Rugby Prop physique than where you currently stand. So instead of freaking out about it, maybe take it into account.

If you don’t want to take that advice, OK. But then don’t get defensive and start making excuses about why you’re not gaining weight or muscle. Come up with a better idea, if you don’t like that one. Maybe you’ll eat a jar of peanut butter every day. Or eat a dozen eggs. Or a whole chicken.

I am so, so tempted to order one. (I really did think “use yourself as fertilizer” had legs too, but yeah, this is a bit better.)

To clarify, it was only before posting about how much he disliked a certain website or youtube fitness celebrity, not every time he posts. The method to the madness is 2-fold.

1: He posts about them semi-frequently, but it isn’t in every post. He wouldn’t be putting away 10,000 calories a day like this, but it would get him a little bit extra over time.

2: Those comments have zero value toward reaching his goal or improving this site. It’s just bitching. By no longer engaging in it, he improves himself AND his surroundings, which in turn help to improve him.

It might also help to develop some quick cooking skills. Something easy, like a 10 egg omelet or a sweet potato or something.
