Prove us wrong then.

Come back in a year when you weigh 225 pounds, squat 225 for 5, bench 185 for 5, and deadlift 315 for 5. That might demonstrate your knowledge is translating to actual results. And those things are absolutely achievable for a beginner; if anything, they’re probably on the low side of what someone training for a year should achieve (if they have your stated goals of the “Bear Mode” physique).[/quote]

I hope at 225 he can do more than that…

I hope so too, haha, I’m just being charitable. OP is currently using quite little weight, so this would represent significant starting progress from his starting point, even if he would still have a long way to go.

Gotta walk before you can run.

Lol, ya, that’s true.

I’m sorry kid, but I have to correct you here. You are starting to spout rubbish. Treat it as a learning process.

No. Knowledge should be derived from experience, not just from reading about other people, because it’s YOUR BODY. Not anyone else’s. At this point in time, you know nothing. The more you achieve, the more you will know.

I hate to break it to you, but those with the genetics for this WILL get results from curls everyday as long as they eat and train with the right work ethic. You don’t read about this often because it is not something everybody can relate to.

Not naive. But too inexperienced to separate fact from bullshit.

Yes. It’s called puberty.

No. This is not true. People who start skinny and weak will improve rapidly once they start training and eating properly if they have the genetics for this. Slow developers are either slacking in training/diet or really do not have the genetics to make it far.

Thanks activitiesguys and usmcdds for saying it straight and encouraging me to go harder on my workouts as that is all i think and do.

I am looking for a bar similer to the one in my pic but longer like 6ft and with knurling as my current bar in the pic below is too short but my current bar can have have 11 plates on each side depending where i slide the red stoppers.

I need a bar where i can i slide the red stoppers to put more plates on each end of the bar.

Breakfast: 6 eggs, cheese, 1 cup oats w/milk and banana
Lunch: 400g meat (eg. Lamb shoulder), 500g potato, veggies (make this in a big pot x6 or 7 for the whole week)
Dinner: 400g ground meat (half turkey, half something red), 1 cup rice w/1/2 bag spinach stored through, cheese, 1/2 avo, salsa, sour cream, throw in a wrap

Use herbs and spices so you don’t go nuts.

Lift heavy compounds like greyskull lp

Supplement w/fish oil, multi and choc milk

Add time + consistency

Simple (but not easy.)

Hey I like Bears, never heard of having to gain to “become” one,but here goes…Eat,and eat anything.IF you mean ‘muscle bears’,Eat fairly clean, cheat meals allowed, and get in that gym and push weights. If I were you,and i’m guessing things here,Do like 5-10 min. cardio to warm up then hit the weights,if you’re new to this you might start with machines,to have better form.If you know your way around go for the free weights and mix a little machine work in.Go kinda heavy with your weights. If your gym has an attendant, ask for help/advice.And good luck.

11 45lbs plates? quick math, that is like 1,000lbs… You can get a relatively cheap bar off Rogue if you are in the states.

Noo its one 7.5kg, two 5kg two 2kg and 6 1kg plates…the only benefit to my current bar is that i can have 11 plates on each bar because you allways make room for the other plates by moving the red holders, the disadvantages are is that the bar is too short for squats unless i move the red discs but then i cant add more plates and my bar has no knurling, its just too smooth.

I am looking for a bar similer to my old but with knurling and 6ft length and the advantage of noving the red holders for more plates on each bar.

What size are your plates? Both weight and internal diameter. It looks to me like the bar you have is a 1" diameter, in which case if you buy a decent bar, odds are you’ll have to buy new weights as well.

On a side note, if this was the bar you were trying to learn to powerclean with, I now see why you were having issues.

A bigger bar would certainly be a good purchase, yes, but I think you’re also going to need some more plates. Heavier plates.

Not-trying-to-be-a-dick question: have you ever watched really serious weightlifters, either in videos or in a gym? Those guys don’t load the bar with a whole bunch of small “chip” plates. Buy yourself a couple of bigger-diameter plates (ideally at least one pair of 20 kg or 25 kg) and you won’t have the “bar is too short” issue any more because any bar can hold a couple of those on each end, which will hold you over for at least a year or two given your current status.

Once again, we are thinking in parallel.

Just buy a regular olympic bar, plenty of cheap second hand sets on craigslist. (Perfect world get a texas power bar)

these crazy system glitches where it bumps old threads really do make for a nostalgic read

I wonder if OP ever achieved the basic standards I set for him.

He’s probably still too busy reading the internet trying to determine his natty potential before committing to any serious training.
