BCAAs and Cardio

Like many, I like to do my cardio in the morning on an empty stomach. My cardio is moderate (20 min, 2-3 days/wk., HIIT), but I have become concerned about the potential for muscle catabolism from doing this without anything “in my system.” I have heard that taking BCAAs prior to the cardio will inhibit any potential muscle loss. My question is: what type of BCAAs should I take, how much/many, and how long before cardio should I take them? Also, how long should I wait after cardio to take my whey/malto shake? BTW, my primary goal is muscle gain. Thanks, all.

I simply have a scoop of Grow protein powder with lots of water when I’m in this situation. The extra water is because most of us wake up dehydrated.

BCAA are 3 specific aminos, L-leucine, l-isoleucine, and l-valine. Look at the blend in surge. Take atleast 5 grams. I would recomend more since you do not have any whey protein hydrosylate in your system. John B. wrote an article on training in the morning and he detailed some important stuff. laters pk

as far as research has show, l-leucine is the most important one in such a case. it really all depends on your body, cardio and diet regime. probably shoot for atleast 10g of leucine.
