BBB:Big, Bald and Beautiful

11/21

1a.farmers carries x 200-250’ x 75,160,245,330(only like 50’ dropped to 245 and finished)
1b.sled drag 3 times
2. 1 sprint (had to stopped I was so gassed)

Don’t laugh at my handy work, OK. I figure it weighs around 75 lbs empty and each cement block weights 42.5 lbs. I have so much more respect for the strongmen competitors after being humbled by 330 lbs. My forearms will look like Popeyes if I keep this up.

yeah, I see those guys running with 300+ in each hand and think, no.

Got it. Is that 3/4 pvc for handles? Wife’s gonna love seeing that in the yard, next to the throwing standards, and shot put area, and…

MJ,those guys are beasts.

Harry, those are pvc pipes for handles(I think 3/4 inch). I had everything to make this at home. I’m sure better materials could be used.

Is that thingy a tanning bed?

Kind of. Lots of UV rays if you use it during a sunny day.

Love all the fun training you are doing!

Thats a beastly set up Steve. I use the premade bars and thats a hell of a workout so I can’t imagine lifting that thing and keeping it steady while you move.

Thanks guys. As weird as it sounds I had a lot of fun carrying that thing around and pulling tires yesterday. It was 36 degrees and I only had a sweat shirt on but after a couple rounds I was sweating and ‘steaming’. Keeping this thing steady isn’t to tough. I try and balance the load evenly.

Nice contraption!

How are you fitting the carries, drags etc around your lifting? Afterwards or on off days. How many minutes do you spend doing it? Do you leave long recoveries between carries or try to keep breathless throughout?

Sorry for all the questions it’s just I’m thinking of doing something like this to add variety to my hill sprints. For example pushing heavy wheelbarrow up the hill, farmers walk up the hill etc.

Brett,I loosely try to do the following:

-5/3/1 twice a week one day strongman type stuff, three days 5/3/1 if I don’t do strongman stuff
-rest just long enough to catch my breath
-try not to train two days in a row unless I have to
-strongman stuff gets its own day
-my outdoor workouts last 30-45 minutes and change every workout

I hope this explains what I do. My schedule is always changing because my kids are so involved in sports. Some kind of heavy training three times a week whether its indoors or outdoors is my goal. The heavy wheelbarrow sounds like it would be a killer workout. Sledge hammer swings are fun as well.

Thanks for the info ECO,

I currently deadlift Monday and squat Thursdays, so I think I’ll do this Tuesday and Friday that way I still get a clear days rest before the weights. I want to try this sort of workout but not at the expense of my lifting.

I once had to break up the concrete floor of my barn and dig it out to 2 foot deep when we were converting it. I did it 8 hours a day for over 3 weeks. I never want to see a sledgehammer again as long as I live!

Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving. I plan on completely overtraining for the next 5 days. Try to make up for all I’m going to eat.

i think that instead of purposely overtraining, I will perform some puposeful nottraining.

BRING ON THE EXCESS TRYPTOPHAN!

SteelyD,I bet you can put away as much food as I can.

After squats tonight I’m gonna dust off my powertec squat machine and try some higher rep stuff with it. Haven’t use this machine for years and never used it very much. It looks cool though. Anyone ever used one? Like it? Hate it?

After deads I headed outside to carry around my new toy. I figure I was carrying around 150 lbs. I’ll add 2 more blocks next time. First time I’ve worked out in the dark. Windy, cloudy and dark. Good times. [/quote]

Kinda fun isn’t it? Most of my after work workouts have finished yup in the dark since the time change. It’s started snowing now too, kinda gives you a little extra umph in your sets. Your new toy looks cool, great idea!

Thanks DZ. It is fun outside in the dark.

What is a powertec squat machine? Is it yours at home? Any chance of a pic?

Was that a 200 ft farmers walk with 330 lbs? Wow.

I’m suprised you’ll be able to grip a knife and fork.

BBB is a good use of the Ptec machine.
