BBB:Big, Bald and Beautiful

I use a thumbless grip for most things except bench. I used to use it to bench as well, but its banned by USAPL and after that USC kid got f’d up, I switched. I don’t think its nearly as dangerous for press because the weight is not going to crush your face or neck in the same way as it would on bench. And I really prefer the feel of the thumbless grip–it just feels stronger.

Edit: BW+50? Wow, that’s awesome.

Bah, that’s still pretty damn good. I know many people who cannot even do a chinup at their own body weight.

Im with jack and scott that is some fine, fine work…and a 190MP for 11 ain’t too shabby either!

Yea, I’m with those other 3 guys. The numbers are impresive, no matter how you look at it.

Looking strong! Good MP and chins. I should do more chins, I just hate them so dearly…

Thanks guys. Chins are coming along. Makes it tough when you weigh over 250.

several sprints and tire drags

I did about 1/2 of what I wanted to. I didn’t rest enough between sets and almost threw up.

no, really… nice work!

Good is good and you own some.

I get confused about the log name changes, but did not jump to the, umm, conclusions that O did.

Thumbless grips. Now that’s just something I’ve never understood. How there could be any advantage to a less secure grip with any lift.

I’ve switched to thumbless on my push presses. Seems to seat the bar better in my hands and lets me get my elbows out quicker so the bar is easier to put over my head.

Thanks LA,DCA and KP.

KP,I think DCA hit it on the head. It just sits on the hands better. Doesn’t make sense. Just feels good.

LA,didn’t realize I was at the number of the beast.

Hey steve, looks like some serious work going on here. I am one of the aforementioned fat guys that can’t do a single chin. it is sad. If I can ever drop some weight, I think I’ll be able to start doing them again

SteelyD,I say that to my kids.Funny.

MJ,thanks.I’m gonna hit 20 chins straight one day.We fat guys have to keep supporting each other.

Nice job on the Chins! Way to represent us fat guys. I think one of my prouder accomplishments was hitting 5 dead hang pull ups. I would like to do 10 someday…

Thanks Colin. Remember the days of youth, hair and low bodyfat when pullups were easy. Oh, glory days.

i only had the youth

I’m with you, mj.

Nice work, Steve. You make it look easy.

MJ,your memory is just foggy because you’re so old. I bet you were quite the stud at one time. You were a marine for goodness sakes.

Skip, board pressing 385 for reps after a lay off is making it look easy. And you still have your hair. Stud.
