Bagsy's Training Log

For me OnePlus is where it is at as far as smartphones go but I’ve been meaning to acquire a dumb phone but that doesn’t help with cameras.

In China, I had a huawei that came with a sick Leica camera. A total game changer for my food blog

The other thing too is acquiring several KBs of varying weights… take up more space and slightly more annoying when relocating.

Thanks! I’m not super knowledgeable on photography myself besides the basics. I photographed events at my university for our newspaper, but otherwise it’s simply a hobby.

I think a case could be made that a smartphone when used the right way would be far better for privacy and security than a dumb phone. But to discourage excessive phone use, I could see a dumb phone winning out.

Can believe you on the camera side of things, but I would never buy a phone from Huawei.

It really isn’t a good option outside of China TBH. Trying to sync phone systems and get service is an absolute nightmare. That’s why I have an iPhone and a Huawei.

As for fears of Chinese government stuff, those fears are overblown to a large extent (have relatives in the government). Although, mutual animosity between the US and Chinese government makes trying to use a CHinese phone in the US a pretty bad experience

I’m almost there tbh.

I feel this is not the only thing whose importance you downplay.

That could easily be a plus in some cases. It totally depends on one’s values and circumstances.

I’m not sure what you mean

Calls would randomly drop; couldn’t use 4g despite “full bars”, bad connection… great if you’re trying to avoid ppl, not so much otherwise :joy:

It’s nice to pull 200 pounds without too much difficulty. Deadlifts will always be there for me at least…

And look what the FedEx guy brought shortly after!

Your deadlifts are beautiful!

Way to grind out the reps on press. Your willingness and ability to push yourself is really impressive to watch.

Great deadlifts!

Thanks, that’s kind of you to say. I try to not be the person who must be told to “try trying” both in and outside of the weightroom.

Dude, you’re kicking ass in here. Those squats look much better now and the weight you’re handling is more than you have said you feel comfortable with, that’s an accomplishment! Keep at it.

Thanks! Your casually deadlifting 430 pounds is not too shabby, either.

Seems like too much of insta fit chick angle in the first clip but whatever. Not great but not awful overall. I’m glad I was able to manage this volume PR. I feel confident about 150x3x3 next week. I’ve never done working sets where 5 is the second number before.

Of course I couldn’t resist trying out my new SSB. I haven’t used one in a year. I should probably keep it tucked away until I am done with this program. However, I’m super glad I bought it. Even though it looks like (and I probably am) lifting mostly with my back, I still feel like my legs do more work as well. I don’t have shoulder or elbow issues (thankfully, and at least not yet), yet squatting feels so much better this way.

I think I did enough core work.

Then since the weather was so nice I went to the park and did 5 hill sprints. I haven’t done these in four months or so and wasn’t as out of shape here as I expected. I always feel a little weird doing these when there are a lot of people here and no one else also punishing themselves like this, but I am glad I do it. I am fortunate to live by such a perfectly terrible hill.

Did this later than usual because I absolutely did not want to lift today. My legs and neck are trashed from yesterday. I haven’t slept well the past several days.

To my surprise it turned into one of those WTF kind of sessions because everything went really well. Firstly, last week I was supposed to bench 92.5x5x5. Not 95. No big deal, I’ll just repeat the 95 this week. What a difference though. Last week benching was such a struggle, yet today I am pleased with much improved bar speed and general confidence. I don’t want to get too far ahead of myself, but this makes me think that a BW bench might even be attainable this year.

I intended to take it a bit easier on the rows, which I sorta did, but even then I managed a great effort.

For that to be true you’d have to be wearing skin-tight booty shorts or lululemons with a whale tail thong, and that’s definitely not you…

Given how grindy pressing was last week, I decided to repeat the weight instead of moving up 2.5 pounds. It was a good choice. Though still tough, bar speed improved.

You can tell that the weight is getting heavier for me here (sets 1 and 2) but wasn’t super tough until the last set. I’ve never pulled 205 for that many sets before.

Training is going decently lately. I don’t know why because I am mentally exhausted and not sleeping well. I’m looking forward to my next deload.

Stress PRs are a thing, not just a joke.

Maybe the stress allows people to get out of their own heads? Hard to say.
