It’s good to see you on here again.
Just caught up.
So sorry to hear the issues.
Hopefully the lap solves everything!
Thank you. I’ve really been through it in both awesome and abysmal ways in the past few months. Keeping my expectations for the lap pretty low given how frequently endo reoccurs, but I think it’s still the right move.

I am 99% sure I was struggling with a severe B vitamin and/or folic acid deficiency for many weeks. Yet another instance of doctors thinking that my presentation of anemic symptoms is normal. I have a lot more energy now thanks to taking lots of B12 and some folic acid and B6 twice per day starting just yesterday. It might be placebo, but it even feels easier to breathe now. Even the tinnitus that I developed over two months ago and thought was an ear infection has gone away. So dumb.
I don’t know why, but B6 does it for me too. I’ve tried the B-complex, and just don’t seem to actually digest them at all. B6 though, marked improvement in cognition, mood & energy.
Same with zinc gummies. Tablets- nada. Gummies- big difference. Gotta absorb it for it to work!
I learned that B6 toxicity is a real thing, so I’m being careful. But I probably became deficient in B6 too…
Thanks to @QuadQueen’s suggestion a few years ago, I discovered that D3 capsules do not actually increase my D3. Only the drops.
Yeah, it can happen.
A friend of mine got really sick a while back. He was in the hospital and they were looking at like leukemia and a few other really nasty ailments, and it wasn’t looking good.
So one day, his older sister came in and started talking to the nurse. When he was a kid his mom (a nurse) used to give him these “shots”. What or why, he didn’t know. He just thought she was a kook and moved on with life never to give it a second thought.
So it turned out he had pernicious anemia, and was so low in B vitamins that his blood was breaking down.
Mystery solved, they gave him a regiment of B shots, and he perked up real good! Once his bloods were acceptable he was released, and now just gets regular shot from his GP.
I’ll keep the toxicity in mind. I’m like a neuro/stim junkie and love the endorphins and dopamine and adrenalin, so I wonder if that doesn’t leave me depleted at times.
She is precious. I can’t adequately express my appreciation of her without expressive dance or some other awkward method that ain’t gonna happen, other than
!
You are too kind. Thank you so much and I do love me some expressive dance… lol
I dance like Butthead after too much instant coffee.

Took a break from lifting and the bike, walked 10 miles instead for an errand and to enjoy the rare cooler summer weather.
My MRI is tomorrow evening. The contrast will be weird. Although I don’t expect much, it would be awesome if it could show that something is wrong. That sounds goofy, but I do crave some validation at this point.
I can relate to that very well. Having been very austere with myself, I don’t feel right with people doting over me and asking how I’m doing unless there’s blood squirting out or something is clearly broken.
So with some of the not obvious, no blood- complications I’ve had, I’ve really questioned myself if “its all in my head” or if I was just being a wuss.
So I while can’t validate or invalidate anything, I can definitely relate to those thoughts & feelings.
Edit: also, love those flowers. The same kind line the side of the path to one of my favorite mushroom patches.
Yeah, that’s exactly it. On most days I am more afraid of having surgery and there be nothing found than discovering there is a moderate amount of disease. I don’t want to walk away feeling like I am a wimp on top of not knowing what the issue is. This feels amplified in women’s health spaces too.
It’s not that I don’t believe myself, but it is tough when in May a doctor I once trusted told me that I probably just have a muscle issue. Even my best friend has been kind of dismissive, suggesting that I am overthinking these things.
We’re only a little more than a century from women not riding on trains because the tremendous speed (50 mph!) might knock their uterus out of whack.

Thats the crux of it. At least with a bad diagnosis/prognosis, you have some answers to go with in a direction of your choosing.
Minus that, its just kind of a vacuuous null point.
.
At least with chf my doc assured me I was doing the right things, seeing results, and over all in a good place with plenty of mileage left on the ole ticker.
I hope you can have that at some point (soon!) too.

Slept poorly, and I came to the realization that I probably became a stomach sleeper (which is bad I think?) in recent times because my mattress sometimes makes my shoulders and hips hurt if I sleep on my side. Like last night. Coincidentally, I’m getting rid of my mattress soon and am researching some more budget-friendly options to hold me over for eight months. Probably going to buy an Ikea mattress and a nice latex topper. I’m looking forward to moving even though it will be a huge pain to do so.
In terms of joint/ back health/ MSK-issues: Nope.
Do enlighten me!
There is no scientific evidence that any kind of sleep position causes MSK-issues. However there is evidence that debunks those myths very clearly:
Carey et al. (2021) PMID 34847195
Holdaway et al. (2018) PMID 30470225
Mundt et al. (2011) PMID 22372306
Sleep positions don’t cause issues (evolutionary speaking it would be really weird if we were the only vertebrae species that can’t sleep on their stomach, haha). A lack of sleep however does contribute to msk issues. So people should focus on what is comfy to them and lets them sleep the most and best.
Thanks, I’ll read the papers soon. It isn’t something that keeps me up at night (ha) and doesn’t change my plans to get a new mattress, but the biomechanics of sleep seems like an interesting topic to explore. I also work in musculoskeletal research.
