I do have to agree with this. I don’t want to get stuck in my 10-minute miles again. I think I ultimately did not do enough speed work before and would settle into the same pace, every run. Starting again now, I’d like to kick my legs into realizing they aren’t going to do that again. It is time to move little legs.
Fair enough. I will be as fast as you!
Maybe, but any weigh adds up so fast when running. But as you said, I am not going to dedicate my life to it. I like lifting more, so more mass it is.
Thank you for your answers, I appreciate it!
@simo74 It is pretty funny. Opposites on when to start speed work, but similar on actual speed work distances.
People like to romanticize the long run through the woods. They don’t want to suffer through 400m repeats! I think those are worse than some of the most terrible squat workouts.
You also don’t have to stick to the same distances in a single speed workout. I recall doing some pyramids back in the days.
Yeah, I don’t think you’ll find many 200m competitors advocating mile repeats for their speed workouts, for example.
Ah, the famous Dan John diet. Eat what you want, then run 3 x 400m all out sprints. It doesn’t matter what you ate, it’s now lying by the side of the track.
Thank you for the puppy picture, he is getting so big!
Guess I know what I am doing for my run Tuesday. I have two “tracks” at parks near my place, but they aren’t regulation size, may need to improvise slightly.
Great idea! I have a couple of flat neighborhood blocks nearby that I think would work well for this. I’d use high school track, but with school getting back in, that would be weird.

Really thought I had 150 on the front squats. Oh well, probably psyched myself out mentally. Not bad though considering how stressed I am. College was way more difficult for me than grad school has been, but this past week has tested me a little bit thanks to my thesis proposal, which I finally finished editing today.
A bit. Way more after the proposal is over. I’ve had to take on something totally out of my wheelhouse, so I can only hope I survive my presentation without crying!
Yeah, even 135 is. I like to think 145 is, like, 20ish pounds over bodyweight. Maybe closer to 15 though, who knows.
