Bagsy's Training Log

Other than graduating, getting the JD, and qualifying to take the bar (you know, the very reasons one goes to law school  ) the time with my study partner and a few classmates was the best aspect of that otherwise-grueling experience.

How long until you finish your PhD?

It sounds tough for sure.

Ha, at this point I tell people that I am hanging out here. Maybr twoish more years?

20 minute run

Didn’t track the distance but wanted to work up a sweat and dabble in the Dan John and Joe DeFranco podcasts. It was good to shake out my legs after the front squat volume day.

10 min 80# sandbag carry + pushups whenever bag was dropped (38 total)

I went a little off program despite sleeping poorly and feeling a cramp. I failed 140 multiple times last year, so this was nice. It looked and felt pretty smooth, too.

Yeah it did! Congratulations.

Congrats.
Only thing better than grinding through a lift you’ve failed before is hitting that PR as smooth as you did

Hell yeah! Great to overcome a hurdle that you’ve failed before. Big confidence boost.

Jumps + 6x200m at the track.

I’m having a very social weekend, which overall is good for me right now. I have an extremely busy next couple of weeks both at work and outside of it. I won’t be able to squeeze in another full cycle of 1000% Awesome before I go on vacation – when I won’t touch a barbell for two weeks or so – but close to it. So, plugging away until then.

20 standing ab wheel
70 band pull aparts

I’m so pleased with this because it looks and felt like I could have pulled another rep or two. Also a good way to end one of the nicest weekends I’ve had in a long time. I will be very crunched for time this week… tired from just thinking about it.

Haven’t checked in for a while, but I see you are still hitting PRs like a maniac.

I appreciate you checking in! It turns out that doing Deep Water and then not caring so much about lifting for months is working okay for me so far.

Sometimes the PRs come after the hard work is in the past, I have experienced that lots of times. I think of them as PRs that are already on the table, just waiting to be collected.

3 mile run 23:05

Passed out before 9:30 last night. Had my best sleep in the past week, and I was up early enough to squeeze all of this into the morning! My shoulders aren’t feeling the greatest from overhead pressing three times per week, but maybe it’s what I need.

2 sets of Tabata running

Something quick. Didn’t want to get up this morning. Plus, I feel a deep knot in my upper back, which typically means I am due for a deload. Only two more weeks.
