SSB lunge
75x2x7, jumped from second set immediately to 60x7
3x60s plank + 20 situps, no rest
PR by one rep on the top set. I didn’t have to fight hard for that, so I think I had at least one or two reps left.
But my negligence this week showed on the BBB sets, which were actually challenging. I’m going to try to do better this week so I can confidently approach the week three weights and increase my TM for the next cycle.
PM
4x300m run, all around 65s
Perfect weather to burn off existential angst! That sucked.
@Koestrizer@garagerocker13 Thank you both! I know I should have been less worried, knowing it would come back, but I didn’t expect to feel like nothing ever happened to me so soon.
Honestly, while you’re here, I must say that right now I’m trying to achieve a life PR of going to Germany in May. That matters a lot more to me right now. But I wouldn’t mind PRs in the weightroom either.
Would be cool, but you don’t think it’s crazy given the situation? One of my friends in Germany worries about me going. Then again no one really knows.
Well I don’t think that the plague here is worse than in America (although I haven’t been following the U.S situation recently) but I don’t see an increased risk. Germany itself has now removed the label of increased risk warning off of all foreign countries because the situation seems to be similar, no matter where you go.
War: Unless it comes to nuclear annihilation (which would also affect America), I don’t see an increased risk either. Life here will be affected, not only by psychological effects but also a wave of war refugees but Germany/ the NATO won’t enter into open combat. So the actual physical risk for us is as minimal as it can be. Obviously the war is ever present as a topic and people are touched by the events that unfold.
Just the other day I bought and delivered goods for the people in Ukraine and to see how many people here are willing to help in whatever small way they can is quite moving.
Edit: So no, not crazy at all. Any country in Europe is affected to a degree but unless you visit Eastern Europe, you’re fine.
Kind of off topic but potentially relevant to travel. Has any of your day to day changed at this point? Do you imagine if the war goes on for a few months that your day to day will change significantly?
No to both (speaking for me personally!). As I said we will take in a fair share of refugees but we should absolutely be able to handle that and take on the responsibility. We have taken in over a million refugees from middle east (Syria, Afghanistan mainly).
As for economical changes: That remains to be seen. Germany is very dependant on Russian gas. Losing that will pose a challenge and energy prices are likely to explode. But we’ll manage and the majority of Germans (according to recent poles) is willing to accept these consequences of standing with Ukraine.
Got it, glad to read. The only news I really followed before the current mess was German, and I had the impression that things seemed okay enough there. Things are a lot better in my area too, so much so that mask mandates are loosening. A long flight is still risky of course, but I decided last month that I feel fine accepting that risk.
Like you said, I also don’t think Germany would be directly affected unless things escalate that much as you mention.
Trust me, I’m dealing with so much emotional baggage on that front now.
I don’t know; I think he is simply that kind of person. I worried that I was becoming too desperate, clouding my judgment, but everyone else I have told insists that I shouldn’t worry and need to just go.
