Sorry for chiming in so late I agree w/ what ru12nvme said about the true friend part. But, then again if he was a true friend he wouldn’t spit beer in your face either. Although, I do think you may have took it to far. Maybe,hit him once in the stomach to tell that what he did was wrong. But not twice in the face so that winds up in the hospital.
This is why I don’t drink also plus health reasons.

I have not read that much from you so far, but, just with that tidbit… it`s going to be fun to read from you on these forums.
I filtered through most of the whiny, pc, you need to gorw up bullshit on this thread. I think you did the right thin, if it were me, I probably would have ended up in prison. But for any of you whiners that think Wideguy was wrong, realize that spitting on someone is considered assault in most states and he was well within his rights to defend himself.
Nothing wrong in defending yourself if you have the RIGHT to, first of all.
But is it necessary? Like somebody said, I would have recourse to strike-back only if I knew the sucker only understood one language only: violence. Some suckers only learn through consequences.
Defend yourself, fine. Just make sure that in the end you don’t wind up in a worse position (legally and physically)than the one who assaults you. In short, it’s an option, but it’s no excuse to prevent yourself from thinking either.
Just my 2 cents. It’s your face after all, not mine. I had 2 car accidents and I have daily chronic reminders that I am not invulnerable.

No judge in the world would say that jacking some guy in the head is self-defense for spitting.

708.1 Defined.
An assault as defined in this section is a general intent crime. A person commits an assault when, without justification, the person does any of the following:
- Any act which is intended to cause pain or injury to, or which is intended to result in physical contact which will be insulting or offensive to another, coupled with the apparent ability to execute the act.
and
704.1 Reasonable force.
“Reasonable force” is that force and no more which a reasonable person, in like circumstances, would judge to be necessary to prevent an injury or loss and can include deadly force if it is reasonable to believe that such force is necessary to avoid injury or risk to one’s life or safety or the life or safety of another, or it is reasonable to believe that such force is necessary to resist a like force or threat. Reasonable force, including deadly force, may be used even if an alternative course of action is available if the alternative entails a risk to life or safety, or the life or safety of a third party, or requires one to abandon or retreat from one’s dwelling or place of business or employment.
Wideguy may have been assaulted but slamming a guy in the head, twice, is not force is necessary to avoid injury in order to prevent an injury or loss.
I do think it’s pretty damn sweet what Wideguy did (would have loved to have seen it). Spitting beer over an insult over a crack hoe is just plain stupid and I will not engage in Wideguy bashing but just wanted to shed a little light on the self-defense issue.
I agree with what Bedz said. In fact I’m pretty happy no police have shown up to my door, yet.
