Got it !! I’ll see you then! You’ll do great!!
This man . . . This man dominated the platform yesterday! Wow! Waiting patiently for the meet write up from the source himself.
And thank you for bringing me that delicious and strength-inducing concoction! You’re always so thoughtful!
Uh yeah, you need to tell everyone how great you did! And so precise too!! Tell em!!!
Meet Write up:
Met Miss Brute Fury. It was the PR of my day. What an absolute treat; so sweet, uplifting and positive.
Beautifully strong and an absolute stunner!
I have no recollection of events, after that moment.
The End
Z.
Alright, alright. The Meet was better than I expected; sick the week before, SQ, in training, was going nowhere…just wanted to get through it and maybe tie PR’s.
Weight in at noon: 182 lbs.
Went 9 for 9; a red light on a SQ, then on my last DL; otherwise, pretty clean.
SQ: Worried going in. Warmed up to 2x1 @ 245.
Then hit: 265
286, not bad.
308.5, for a 5.5Lbs PR. I was Shocked at how good things felt; didn’t plan on a PR, just tried a small one to stay positive.
BE: Training was great; all set for a PR here. Warmed up to 2x1@ 225. Opened light, to slingshot up to ???
Hit 231/ 253 (T-PR)/ 270. I asked Karen, she said 270, I said OK…16.5 PR.
DL: Big finish now. I felt great, no fatigue, just adrenaline and pulling with Controlled/ Brute Fury:) Warmed up to 3x1@ 315.
Opened at 330, then hit 364 hard but doable, and finished at 391 !!! I knew I had this. I also knew, if I went for 403 (next possible choice) I might miss. I took the ‘sure thing’; and was right BTW. This was an absolute Max Effort pull for me, judge’s gave it to me 2-1.
Overall, couldn’t be happier. Bumped my total up 39.5 lbs to 969.5 overall. Set up to hit my two End of Year goals: DL over 400, and total over 1000 (set from last spring).
Vid’s to follow, maybe, if I can do it without pulling my hair out.
Thanks one and all, for the Strong thoughts and support!
Godspeed and Train Hard.
ERIC D.
Well, that’s 20 minutes of my life that I can’t have back.
Trying to post vids.
Good Grief. It was a SQ, BE, and DL; you all know what they look like:)
Do you want me to post them for you? Text them to me and I’ll get it done.
You did do such an amazing job!
Here you go with some of your vids!
The 3rd squat
The second and third benches, not sure the order
Your FABULOUS DEADZO PR
:)!!! How did you know that I LOVE compliments!!! :)!!! Thank you!! I clutch such nice words to my chest with delight!
WORD! You did MOST FABULOUSLY and I hope you are still drunk on pr’s and have a nice lil post meet endorphin hangover!
Great job Z! more to come…well done
Great work z man. All those were PR’s but none of them were maxes.
You have a lot more in you my friend. It will show in your upcoming meets.
Thanks Boys, for all the strong thoughts.
Yes, more lbs. in the tank for SQ that day; went in unsure, just wanted to get past them.
BE: Maybe a few more lbs. possible.
DL: 391 was The Limit that day. Next jump was 403 in believe; I felt good, but not 12 more lbs. good:)
Yes, very happy overall.
And of course, to Miss Fury for the posting of the vids. I appreciate the time/energy to do so.
Tuesday 9/27: Back in the gym…sorta.
Some band work, rolled around on that thing…Leg press, Hammer Inc. press… then went home to nap before work:)
Thursday: More serious, yet restrained.
Hanging leg raise: 3x10
Much band work; shoulders/upper back.
DL: Worked up to 4x2@ 255. Just easy pulling
Box pulls (just below knee): 3x3@ 275
Seated Hammer row: 2x8@ 185; 3x4@ 225
Low DB hammer press: 8@ 40,50,60,70,70.
Easy. Eating/sleeping a bunch this week. Feeling very good.
Friday Night @ Red Rocks: American Zeppelin; Get The Led Out Tour.
This was an Amazing show!!! IF your into music AT ALL, you should check these guys (and gal) out. Definitely, a must see if you like L.Z. Lead singer was one of the best I’ve EVER seen, truly.
2 hours+, at Red Rocks, beautiful night with my sister…(2 tixs for $100 btw). This was part of the PBS tour season, filmed the concert to show later on TV.
Check’em out!
Glad you enjoyed your concert.
Regarding calling weights at USAPL meets: attempts can be increased in increments of 2.5 kg (roughly 5.5 lb). So the next weight up from your third attempt 177.5 kg DL would be 180 kg. If it’s a world record attempt at an international meet, lifters are permitted to microload at .5 kg.
Also, I can see why Alex gave you a red light on your third DL. Sean had the right idea but the wrong reason. It’s unlocked knees. You pull and lock and then unlock as a result of hyperextension. Not uncommon with sumo but something to be aware of so you don’t lose a lift down the road.
Yup, saw that a bit on the vid. It was close, but I’ll take the 2 out of 3:) I do recall, locking out but not getting the down call…I looked right at the head ref, who was looking right into my eyes. I was wondering what she was waiting for:)
Anyway, 2 out of 3: 16lbs. PR…Count it!
I’m guessing the head judge was caught so off guard by your handsomeness staring directly at her that she momentarily forgot to give you the down command.
Next time avoid direct eye contact… and don’t hyperextend and unlock your knees.
Oh Dave, your so full of it, that I’m sure you must be right ![]()
Speaking of Dave being full and thick…
9 weeks out from another meet…again. Good grief. So it’s 4 weeks until my Chicago trip, then home in week 5 for the big push to the finish line.
I may go to Monster Garage gym while I’m there, an hour or so up from my parent’s place.
Meet goal: Stop using my BE max, as a SQ opener:)…that would be a positive step.
