Back Days, Chin-ups

my training has been going very well lately, im progressing in my lifts and gaining size as well. The only thing that just doesn’t seem to progress is my chin ups.

i always start my back workout with wide-grip chins, 4 sets, usually about 1 rep of failure, i used to be able to do 50 reps in 4 sets, but now i just cant seem to get near there… anyone know how i can bust thru this plateau, or a good backworkout that has worked for them?

You have endless options…I know, doesn’t help much. You could try Poliquin’s Gymnast Pull-up routine…from one of his old articles on this website. You could try setting up Pull-ups on a conjugate-type template…train weighted and low reps one day, train bodyweight and high reps another day each week…

I also suggest you go to the Elite FTS website and submit a question to one of the Q&A contributors named Harry Selkow. He knows his shit and gives alot of good advice regarding pull-up and chin-up progressions.

of all the exercises l do pullup/chinup is the fastest to adapt.

its simply time to change your chin up routine

make a simple change,… makybe do close grip chins (rev grip, v-grip…) for a few weeks, then go back to wide grips.

How heavy were you when you started doing chinups and what do you weigh now? You might be gaining weight quicker than what your body can adapt to the chinups

Try going to Elitefts - Jim Wendler recently had something in his log about adapting his 5/3/1 program to chinups

Try this:

Do you have a link to this? I can’t find it. Search came up with nothing and I went through his articles and didn’t see it.
