Back cracking

My back cracks hundreds of times everyday, I constantly feel the urge to arch my back so it cracks. Does anyone else have this??? Is it bad???

I sometimes have pain and need to crack my back to get rid of it. I often times cannot go to sleep at night without cracking. It’s usually happens when I’ve standing alot during the day.

Loke

no big deal, just buy a rubber mallet at Home Depot and whack the top of your head 6 times day until the cracking stops. You see, your spine is loose and you just need to tighten it up…

Shyne,
My back also cracks a lot during the day - the best ones are when I decompress my spine a little by leaning on something and twisting. I’ve been to osteopaths and that’s about all they do - try to elicit that cracking from the vertebrae.
Apparently the cracking is the result of nitrogen gases exiting the joint. Nitrogen is exuded by the cartilage all the time, although the rate depends on stuff like pressure (divers experience joint problems because of this).
My back certainly feels best when I can get it to crack. By that I mean that if it’s feeling crappy or ‘tight’ I don’t get the cracking and during a period of good training, or rest I do. I find that the best cracking occurs when I do a few warm up sets of deadlifts and then lean off one elbow on a post!
In short - it’s regarded as a good thing.

As long as it doesn’t hurt it should be ok.

The back-cracking noise is gasses and liquids in your joint. This is normal for people but I’m not sure about excessive cracking (I don’t think that is normal). You might consider going to a Chiropractor. They will be able to analyze the problem better. They will also be able to adjust your spine/joints into proper alignment. Improper alignment over a period of time can cause degradation of joints.

I do the same with my neck. Hasn’t caused any problems in 5 years (knock on wood).

My back does the same thing. I also twist side to side to get it to crack. I don’t know if it’s bad though

That’s Gangsta. Nice handle Bad Boy. Yeah I used to do that really badly. My whole body was cracking 100’s of times. I am much better now. The more you do it the more “hypermobile” you become. Your vertabrae are so bad now that even a little knott here or there can pull it out of whack. Well here is what I did in a nut shell. I found the best damn Chiropractor in the world, I took tons and tons of yoga to strengthen and stretch out my vertabrae, and I saw a great massage therapist. It took a year or two but I only crack once or twice a day now. And when I do it is not such a violent thrust to move back into place, I can usually stretch it back in.

I always feel that… especially when I haven’t seen my chiropractor in a while. It can indicate that something is out of alignment. You should have it looked at, if for no reason other than to hear that there is nothing wrong…

Bump, I crack my back all the time against the chairs at school and am also curious about this.
