Back and At It... Again

Anyways, I’m now lounging out across 3 comfy chairs waiting for my connection. Contemplating falling asleep. It’ll be good  I won’t be back in the gym until at least Tuesday because frankly I’m completely tuckered. The guys were fun to coach, but holy crap are the women I coached mentally draining! haha. I think I got a few of them to realize that at meets you don’t have to worry about anything but lifting the same way you always do. You have a coach to worry about your numbers, your placing, lifting order, timing of wraps and telling you what you need to hear before you go out on the platform (from wait for commands to which of the many rings on the bar are the “right” ones, to telling you a story about a lifter who shit themselves during a deadlift attempt to make you laugh because you’re wound so tight and need to not be nervous). I’m a bossy coach, but very calming for my lifters so I’m quite alright with that.

PS. Someone puked during a deadlift this week too. He got the lift and as the head judge was giving him the down command he projectile vomited. Hilarious but so gross.[/quote]

Haha your drunken deadlifts in jeans are pretty damn impressive. Sounds like the people you handled at the meet were lucky to have you around.

I’m not really sure if I admire the guy for pushing himself to the point where he projectile vomited or if I just want to snicker at how hilarious that must have looked, but that is an awesome story. Was anyone in the splash zone?

  • Court is tired. 5 hours sleep in 48 hours
  • Court coached lots. Court is proud of how she coached. People say she is good
  • Court drank lots and deadlifted at 2am. Pulled 275lbs in jeans.
  • The girls Court coached are pretty crazy. Most girls are (including Court).
  • Some dude puked during a deadlift. Funny.

Nobody was in the splash zone. I was just watching that flight in the crowd and was curled up resting and leaning against one of the guys I had just coached. It was his 2nd attempt, he pulled really hard and all of a sudden, watery puke everywhere. My initial reaction was “ew gross” but then all I did was giggle. His third attempt didn’t budge the floor in case anyone thought it would have…

I forgot:

  • Court’s club rules. Lots of medals. Strong as fuck.
  • Court’s hands fucking hurt and are rubbed raw from gear and wraps. She is being a big baby about them, but actually has open wounds on 5 top of hand knuckles and 2 on palm of hand knuckle creases so might have an excuse.

^Court is cool. Thanks. Hope your hand feels better soon.

Loved reading about the meet. Which federation is this?

My coach puts on these grippy work gloves before he shirts/suits me. It saves the hands.

sounds like you had a fantastic time Court! vomiting and all.

Yeah, sounds like you had a blast (despite a severe lack of sleep)! Very impressive results for your club, very impressive jean-ed & sleep-deprived deadlifts, and I wish you got a vid of the projectile vomiting deadlift dude!

Get some well-deserved rest!

Federation is the Canadian division of IPF.

I had those on when I was actually putting the shirts on. However when it came time to adjust, most of the singlets were too tight on the legs for the gloves to easily fit up. That’s what tore the knuckles… when I was up all of the boys’ singlets. I’ll be honest, I touched a lot of junk this weekend because of that. It was awkward. The palms of my hands are torn from wrapping knees. Even being all chalked up wasn’t enough to stop the rubbing.

I just got home. I got more sleep on my planes than in the last 2 nights. I’m about to crash again.

PS. Once I get through the rest of April (aka the busiest month ever), it’s time to drop 15lbs and start training and getting back into some gear. Fuck if I’ll ever go to another nationals and not lift. Fuck. That.

The prodigal daughter has returned. Welcome back.

Touching junk. Interesting job for a hot, young thing such as yourself.

My hands get ripped up getting my own suit on far enough to walk out of the locker room. So I can’t imagine how sore yours must be suiting and shirting multiple people.

Welcome back, Court!

haha, love the ‘Court notes.’

Trying to get all my sessions in this week because I’m flying out Friday morning to Stanford for a weekend of partying and playing sports with 8 other business schools.

Tuesday:
Squats
95x10x1
135x5x1
185x5x5
These felt heavy. I’m still tired (as evidenced by my sleeping later that night)

Lunges:
25DBsx10x5

BSS:
45x10x3

Dead. Then came home and fell asleep at 8:30pm without having finished a paper. I woke up at 6 and wrote it in an hour. Best sleep ever.

Today:
Bench
45x10x1
65x5x1
75x5x5
This needs to fucking get fixed. I expect the numbers to jump quickly in the next few weeks. I was off BB for a long time to fix my shoulder…

BO Row
95x10x5
Some cheating in the late reps

Close DB rows (elbow close to side, neutral grip…prescribed by ART guy while in Quebec)
22.5x10x5

Tomorrow will be deadlifts. I’m going in the morning so there should be a minimal number of college boys around. I should be able to get through my session in peace…

comin in to give ya an ass slap, a hell yeah, and a roofie.

In that order?

If I have a say, I’ll take it ass slap, hell yeah, ass slap, roofie, ass slap, ass slap.

I love your stories.
I wish you could be MY coach.

I’m doing this whole “fall asleep really ridiculously early and feel better all day” thing out. It’s working.

This morning:

Deadlifts:
135x5x2 (1 sumo, 1 conv)
185x5x1 sumo from here forward
205x5x1
225x3x1
275x3x5

Fuck I was strong today. It was great. I put my pretty pink belt on for the 275. I forgot how much of a difference it made (only because it forced me to breath properly)

Seated Goodmornings:
95x8x5
Supersetted with
Hyperextensions
35x10x5

I’m supposed to have a chat with a friend from back home soon but I’m already tired. I’m leaving around 930 to head up to Stanford for the weekend to play volleyball, coed flag football and boys. I need to pack, but I might just go to bed at 930 again and wake up early and do it then. Although I think I have to stay awake until 1030ish when my roomie gets home… silly girl flew out of the state over the weekend and left her keys in her friend’s car (who isn’t back in town until tomorrow). Maybe she’ll just have to ring the doorbell til I wake up…

sounds about right.

A few days ago kpsnap asked about the % I get out of my gear… Well, here it goes:

Squats:
Raw: Haven’t maxed totally raw in ages. Also haven’t gone super heavy with just wraps really either. My guess with wraps would be around 275.
Suit: 345 in gym, 330 in meet… this also includes belt and knee wraps
25% gain

Bench:
Raw: 120 (I’m pretty sure I’ve only hit this once…)
Shirt: 190 in gym, 180 in meet
58% gain

Deads:
Raw: 320 with a belt
Suit: 350 in gym, 303 in meet (that day I probably had about 330 in me, but was playing a number game)
8% gain

I think my squat and bench are accurate. My deadlift numbers are off because I didn’t pull in my suit much after my last meet. I was trying out a tighter suit after that too. I pulled my 320 sometime after the meet but don’t think I was in my suit after that.
