ABZZZ had some energy today, worked my core, hanging Ls knee bent to straight leg, floor leg lowers, reverse holds, Vups, scissors, and some good ol sit ups- pulse style. lasted about 22 minutes.Longer than normal.

I’ve really got to start visiting more people’s threads. Excellent development, Ma’am.

Hai thanks for stopping in, and with compliments too, come on in anytime

Training today

I think my warm out maxed out my training today…lots of stretching, glute stuff, etc etc

Squats
back 45/10 65/8 75/5/ 95 3x5 (although i some 6 reps)

front Squat
77.5 3x5

GMs 77.5 1x9 95 3x9

SLBSS 25s 1x8 each trying to touch ground, I said ā€œtryā€ 20s 2x8 each

combo
walk lunge 25s 3x10 each leg
hip thrust 85 2x18 1x16
pull throughs 1x20 1x19 1x18

Ok I couldnt count today and had a few extra reps here and there.

DEPTH on back squat, OK so I was fine when I was squatting for my goals, but now I want depth.
Im not that far off and i hit it here and there.

I promised G to get a box, and start working with it.

GMS I have been really tweaking these, my glutes love to take over, so wearing the Oly shoes puts more tension
on my lower back, and Im trying not to shoot my hips so far back and keep bar in front, these felt good, my lower back was getting worked. Im finding another weak link is that glute ham tie in, another all show no go, cause dammit it is growing lol.

I know allot of people will tell you that box squatting does nothing for the Raw squatter but if your concerned with depth I would totally disagree. All my squats before box squatting were 2-4 inches high. After low box squatting for about 4 weeks my depth is below parallel easily. Now I know Im not squatting huge amounts of weight but the aspect of sitting on a low box (I used one of those platforms) not even sitting back on it just sitting on it helped train my ass to get waaay down w/o even thinking about it. Great work as usual!

Well ive got the front squat down, its like once i ā€œfeelā€ it IVe got it. Ill work on the box
and get it, good thing is the 95 felt like no biggie, so will be fine weight to work with.
Im not needing ATG just want to hit depth, just in case I ever want to compete.

Glad I found this thread…great stuff. Keep up the good work.

Yeah no doubt up, dont watch, participate! You would be awesome!

HARA cool avi!

Matty umm why? cause Im so strong?! hahaha

I know you have caught the bug! I will go watch one and just see whats its like, getting
to the confidence level to compete is a whole other world. Im really not even close to ready,
shouldnt even say it out loud. But just cause Im so close, i do want my squats to at least hit parallel.

Im feeling yesterday already :open_mouth:

Up,

Powerlifting meets are what you make them. If you’re there to crush records and pillage plastic trophies then you better have a ton of ability, confidence, and testosterone.

However, if you’re there to achieve a personal record and spend a day surrounded by like minded individuals all you need is an application and a goal for your 3 lifts and the plan to get you there.

The hardest part of a meet should be all the countless hours you spend training for it. Once you get there, the hard work is done and its time to have fun and just lift. Nobody has anything to lose by entering a meet regardless of their abilities. Just consider it a fun day surrounded by big men in little tight suits lifting weights.

It’s the absolute best way to learn to sit back and hit depth, regardless of whether raw or geared.

You should do a meet. It’s very addictive. I, too, had a hard time mustering up the courage to do my first. I’m actually really shy about being in front of people, despite my ā€œon airā€ persona.

Umm yea, about the testosterone, dont think I have much  but yes ill keep all this in mind, well said.

Spoken like a true competitor??

Snap Ok ,Ill work past a little fear of the box, dont ask.

I am not shy around people, so that excuse wont work for me.

Nice work UP! Just a few tweaks in training and those back squats will be money! Same with the gm’s.

Yes, next meet is in Feb…been fighting injuries for a while but winning the battle.

Heyyyy I like my GMs whatcha talkin about Willis?

Har well good luck getting ready for Feb meet!

Good day so far, got some xmas shopping done that i have to mail, hate shopping, wears me out more than lifting.

Went to gym and did some spin for recovery, lasted about 25 min. Just put on some music and went as fast/slow as songs. Cleared the lactic acid, although its trying to make a come-back.

My belt loops on my jeans are hanging by a thread from me yanking up my jeans :open_mouth: may have to buy a couple new pair for winter, or keep squeezing into the ones I have. Dilemmas, dilemmas ha!

Picked up a book thats supposed to be good, it is that time of year to soak and read ahhhhh
