Hey,
I’m all set for being in the lightweights. Gotta start the hard part of now training for it;) Will the numbers be comparable to the previous contest?
Awesome, it’s your choice Josh whether you want to do Novice or Open, but with your strength levels I’m sure you could compete in Open level. The Novice will be pretty light.
The weights will be close to the same as Liane’s contest.
I’ll PM you the Novice and Open events and weights.
Anyone else that wants that info PM me.
Does anyone know where there are implements to train with for this thing in Phoenix. I’m new to the area and still looking for a place to workout.
Yo Cezar being from VA myself(fairfax) I just moved out of the Phx area to San Diego, lots of friends and fmaily here though so I’d love to come back and compete in that competition, truth be told I’d hope for some competition in the 231 and under class. I am 240 now and way stronger than I ever was at 260 with an even lower bodyfat.
If you’re in Scottsdale / Tempe, Worlds on Hayden / Thomas is huge and has lots of stuff. The LA fitness of Scottsdale is awesome too. If in north scotts… mountainside or golds… just depends on location.
I hope you guys put this together, seems like the phoenix crew is on some bullshit when it comes to actually finding like minded training partners.

CEZAR, check your PMs.
To everyone though, I have all the implements that will be in the contest. If you don’t have access to them and would like to try them out and train with our group, PM me and we’ll work it out.

I’d definitely like to see you come out here and compete in this contest. And believe me, you’ll have some excellent competition in the Open LW under 231 class.

I am putting it together. Been planning it for awhile actually and in the final process of securing a location. We are planning on having the contest at the exact same location that it was at in March of this year.
I don’t know who the “phoenix crew” is, but my group of training partners are pretty serious and consistent. One guy even went to WSM this year, but you already knew that right?
I’ll be down to watch. Can’t compete right now, due to injury, but will be there to support everyone else!
I would like to attend and would be willing to help out.
Would be a great way to meet people from the area. I’m relatively new to Phoenix.
Entry form is being faxed to NAS today. This should be a good contest for women, beginners, and experienced strongman.
The contest entry form should be posted on the NAS website any day now.

This taken directly out of the entry form. Some changes have been made. The log clean & press will most likely be just clean once and press for reps. The weights are not set in stone for log. The axle deadlift could be tossed out the window if there are a lot of competitors and we are short on time. And stones for women will be 5 stones ranging from 56" to a barrel that is 40".
The NAS sanctioning form was mailed a week ago and entry form has been approved already. It should be posted on the NAS website soon.
Log Press and Farmers Walk should be dual events. Still waiting on a yoke to use, but should have that taken care of soon.
There has been a lot of interest from novice competitors and a few women LW’s.
Liane Blyn, AZ State Chair, is planning on coming and will be the head judge.
Kara Mann will be guest lifting.
MTV Superstar Kevin Nee, a.k.a. “The Kevin Nee”, will be attending the contest as well.
Nice. Clay and I are looking to compete.
Machine~
Our light stone is around 85 pnds, we’ll weigh it this weekend. You’re more than welcome to use it in the competition if you want to do a smaller stone for the women to start?
HotAZ, I would like to use it yes. Hopefully it weighs in somewhere between 85-100.
That means LW women stones would be something like:
85/115/135/155/175
to
56"/52"/48"/44"/40"
which is highly doable.
Awesome, we will weigh it this weekend. I have to work on getting it up to the 56" platform… somehow getting it to my lap isn’t quite 56"! LOL
Cool, let me know if you want to come over and try it out on my platforms.
Hey MachineAz- if you are doing giveaways or prizes we will be glad to donate some prize packs from the office of Charles Staley-Julianne
The contest entry form and information is now posted on the NAS website www.nastrongman.com
Register early so this contest can go gold and have cash prizes!
Excuse my ignorance, but when you say 175# Farmers Walk, does that mean that each implement weighs 175# for a combined weight of 350#, or is that a combined weight of 175#?
175 per hand (per implement). I am positive about this weight not being too heavy for novice LW’s.
