Avoid Injury Again

At the moment I am doing smolov squat cycle with my deadlift. This Friday of week 2 I strained my back doing 410x5x7 (repsxsets). It is not spinal because I didn’t feel it when it happened. Would making my back stronger be a decent idea to avoid this injury again? I have been doing programs with just about no back work (i.e sheiko, smolov, 5x5 has a little). My weight is ~210 and I am 6’1".

Just curious – why’d you think this would be a good idea?

It is said that you can use the deadlift for smolov, however I never would. Deadlifting 4 times a week with higher-end intensities?

making your back stronger is always a good idea

Now that I think about it… It wasn’t too good of one I just couldn’t squat do to a knee injury so I just jumped into it.
