Average Height

What are the approximate average heights of powerlifters and olympic weightlifters in the different weight categories?

I saw a table for this for national-level weightlifters on a WL website not long ago. I can’t remember where I saw it. It seemed like for any man of average or greater height, you pretty much had to be a superheavy. Then again, I’ve always chuckled at the WL definition of “superheavy”.

I remember someone posted average Oly lifter heights based on the old weight classes, but I can’t recall what they were. Its described by Arthur Drechsler in his Weightlifting Encyclopedia book:

Very nice find, thanks man.

Any data out there about powerlifters, or are they the same like those of olympic lifters?

Powerlifters are a bit heavier. Also note that those are competition weights. All of those guys train at heavier weights and then cut for competition.

Thanks for that, exactly what I was after.

Powerlifters are gonna be a bit taller too. AFAIK most of the top SHW’s are in the 6 foot plus range when it comes to PL.
