Heavy Military Press Day
Went into today really wanting to go for 300# again. I wasn’t sure how it was going to go, but kind of girded myself for it. Overall, a really good day.

300x1 - notice that I held the weight up too long and it got in front of me on the way down. That was scary.
Lat Pulls
115x15
175x12x2
200x10x5
220x10x2
220x8
finished with DB Laterals
DB Laterals
40x10x3
40x7
Observations from the set at 300#…
I had more in me
Celebrate after the weight is racked…300#, tarrying above one’s head, can get out of control.
3 bills down, next stop…3 wheels.
Given the way 300 went up I would say you’re not far off of 3 wheels. Matter of a couple weeks actually.
I just don’t know. MP is funny. That was almost a perfect rep, for me. I had a solid unracking, cocked it, hard explosion off the bottom and smooth transition after clearing my head and getting under it.
I know it’s only 15#, but that is still a lot given the rate at which my MP has been moving. Maybe what I have been doing of late really is making that much of a difference!? I am going to stick with it and find out.
I will say, though, that is going to be a HUGE day for me…feeling those 3 wheels go up.
So, A new bench PR. But my bench is still only 85# more than my military press. I still haven’t figured that out. As a rule, well rounded lifters MP about 2/3 (67%-ish) of what they bench. I am MPing better than 3/4 of my bench max.
Oh well…that much closer to 4 bills.
I am thinking that I might deload next week. Also, some heavy board presses might help push me over the 400# mark. We’ll see…
I sure hope so, Steve. 20# is a lot, though. I am hoping that some heavy board presses will do the trick. We will see.
Thanks PG. I think I bruised my ribs, though, when the weight came down in that nearly uncontrolled manner. I have a bruise on each pec and it is tender to inhale quickly/deeply and to cough. Nothing major…just annoying.

Its just 10lbs an arm, right? No problem.
Go easy with that max benching. No more injuring yourself.

Yeah…ONLY 10# per arm…lol
Actually, I hurt my chest with the 300x1 MP. When it came down wonky, it must have impacted my chest pretty good.
Edit: Looking back at the video, I don’t impact my chest. Hmmm… Pulled muscle, maybe?? That does make me wonder where the bruises came from, though. They are too high up for bench. Kroc rows, maybe?
Deload! After maxing twice on bench and twice on Military Press, in the past three weeks, I decided maybe a deload would be a good idea. Otherwise, I might fall off into a valley
Military Press alternated with Lat Pulls
Military Press
barx20
95x10
135x10
165x5
195x5 205x14 - PR +3 Reps…Yeah, yeah, I know. It’s supposed to be a deload.
Lat Pulls
115x15x2
175x12x3
200x15
DB Laterals
30x12x3
A successful deload, even if I did rep out one set.
