Atlas Shrugged; I Pressed

Punching the clock is essential to success! solid work

That is very true. On the more superstitious side, though…
I changed the log title back to what it was when I hit the 405# bench and 315# MP. Just in case…

Tri’s and bi’s are still complaining about Sunday. Maybe that means they are waking up…if not reluctantly.

Bench tomorrow. I am flirting with the idea of doing it with my MP grip, for a while. That would narrow my grip by about 5". Still undecided, though.

Bench Day

Well, it sucked. Power rack was in use. The one semi-acceptable bench was in use. So, I was relegated to the ultra narrow, can’t keep my scapulas on it, shoulder destroying bench.

Bench

135x10
185x5
225x3
275x3
300x2
300x1
225x10 - MP grip…pinkies about 1/4" inside the rings
225x8 - MP grip

I figure if I can’t lift decent weight, maybe I can work on capacity.

DB Bent Rows

Grip is sucking on these. Not sure I could keep a grip on 120’s.

Took an unofficial weigh-in this morning. I am down 21.2# Hoping to hit 22.8 by Friday morning. Since Friday is my birthday, I will be going out to eat, throwing calories to the wind and enjoying a cookie cake. Also, once I am stable with a -23# loss, I am upping my calories. I am tired of going to the gym feeling unfed.

Friday official weigh in…down 23.4#

I have lost 13# in the last 19 days. And that was after losing 10.4# the first week and a half. Somewhere, I am burning more calories than I can account for. So, I am scaling back on the prescribed calorie deficit, as I can really feel the lack of calories, constantly, and it definitely isn’t helping my lifting. Losing 4+# a week, is a bit too much, after the initial water loss.

Taking a 1/2 day today…taking the kids to see Avengers II, going out to eat (I intend to snarf everything I can) and having a cookie cake for my birthday (not the whole thing).

Never thought I would live to see 40, let alone 46…

great job on the weight loss and Happy Birthday !!..youngster…let me tell you when I was 46…hahaha… I actually can’t remember 46!

That’s okay, Paul. I can’t remember 36. I think it has something to do with having kids.

Thanks. Back on the diet today, after a 4000 calories day, yesterday.

Shoulders

I could tell that I had gorged last night. Also, I ate a scrambled egg and some bacon, before hitting the gym. Having energy just makes everything better…though, not stellar. Trying to up my volume a bit and get my legs back under me.

Military Press
barx15
95x10
135x10
165x5
185x10
195x8 - last two reps I apparently used in the previous set.
205x5 - probably had 2 more in me
205x5

BB Shrugs
225x12
285x10
315x10

DB Laterals
35x10x3 - wanted to go to 40’s, but, of course, someone was using them

Lat Pulls - I think I am going to buy them a damned neutral grip bar for this…so my elbows quit hurting
130x10
150x10
170x10

Rear Delt Machine
110x10
130x9

This seems to work my triceps as much as my rear delt…like kickbacks

35 minutes of racquetball. Brother is a sadist.

Ate Greek for lunch…gyro meat, lettuce, tomato, onion, Tzatziki, a couple of olives and a small block of feta.

Legs and arms tomorrow…

Congratulations on the weight loss, great work. And belated birthday wishes as well Strick.

Thanks Dave. Just trying to pull a Joe and lose weight while (re)gaining strength.

After the workout and racquetball, I got to go wandering around three stores searching for shoes, for Mrs. Strick and myself. Then it was off to the fishing hole…me, my brother, his two boys (still at home) and my daughter and youngest.
This place was really only supposed to be for small panfish, just so that the kids could notch some catches. And that is what we caught…panfish…from 3 - 5 inches long. Except for this one. My youngest brought in this carp (1 - 1.25#). It made his day and was, by far, the biggest catch of the evening. He even baited his own hook for the first time. My daughter went as well and caught one herself. And she always baits her own hook. I must have done something right.

Just by the way you have written about your family over he years; I am sure you have done a lot right…

Well, my crew is loved…and they know they are loved. So, I, at least, got the most important one right.
Yesterday was exactly one of the top reasons we moved here. I knew that we would get out more and do more things, once we were around family.
This afternoon will either be more fishing or a cookout and swimming at my brothers.

Leg Press and Arms

Quiet day. Gym was slow. Even so, I had to wait on the darned Leg Press. Still feeling beat from yesterday. But it is a good beat.

Feeling drained in that “I did something” way.

Since you are from the south , wouldn’t it be a thangy and not a thingy ? good work Big Man, must feel good to be back at it !

First 27 years in Georgia. Next 17 in Oklahoma. I’m purty sure I ain’t never sayed “thang”, tho.

Up here in Iwer, they can “hear my accent”. Of course, we all know that what they are hearing is proper English. Because of their own accents, they think it wrong.

Do you have a Boston accent? What accent would Steve have? Now I am going to have to change the voices when reading y’all’s logs.

Well played !! No, no Boston accent here…grew up, wait…grew older in too many places…Jersey, Ohio, Mass, Jersey again, Va, Md, London, Mass again for the last 19 years… As far as Steve, I don’t think its legal to have an accent in NH .

Lots of good work here Strick. Also, it looks like the little guy was pretty proud of that fish. Good stuff.

Wow! You have been around. And I guess I have to refer to you as “cultured”, since you have been to London. I was raised just outside of the Okefenokee. Does that count?
I still pick on Mrs. Strick for having picked up “y’all”. Also, she was been informed that there is only one more step required to be considered “cultured”, southern style…eating grits. I am afraid that might be a test that she will never pass.

Thanks Crippler. He was very proud…and very pleased with himself. Normally, his attention span, when fishing, is about 3 to 5 minutes. After the first couple, though, he had laser focus.

Nice catch by your little one. Sounds like a great day. The next lesson for the kids is never, ever, ever attempt to eat a carp.

Yes…the carp went back into the canal. Next time I believe we are going to a spot where the panfish are actually big enough to keep…and where we can reel in a few catfish. Those we will keep.

Bench later today. I think I am going to stick with the MP grip for bench, at least for a while. Try to use it to help push my MP numbers back north. I think I will also stick with 6 - 10 rep sets to push work capacity at the same time.

Not to mention, this is a safer route, since the benches there are too narrow and I have no desire to strain my shoulder again.
