Thanks, Joe. It felt like a lot too! Especially the day after…

I am officially worn out and need a down/deload week. I was dragging today and realized that I have hit 2 weight PRs and 3 rep PRs, at heavy weight, in the past 4 weeks. There were a few gruelling 5x5s mixed in, coupled with going from 5:45 am to 9:15 pm 3 days a week (thank you youth football) and having sleep issues and there you have it.

I think I will call it an early night tonight and go light this weekend. Heck, I might even take a nap this weekend. No…wait…I have to take the kids to the water park. Nevermind…

Alternated sets

Military Press
barx20
95x10
135x10
185x5
225x5
250x5

270x5

285x2 - PR +1 Rep - just had nothing left for this. Time for a deload.

Face Pulls
95x15x2
120x15x2
135x12x2
120x15x2

Scrimmage for the boys tomorrow. Joshua is looking pretty good. I just wish I could give him a little of my weight (he is scrawny and tall) and a little bit of my mean (except the traffic rage…someone might get hurt).

Good god. 285!!

Something to aspire to for certain.

One day… one day…

As King of the OHP on T-Nation you have earned as long of a deload as you need!

Yes, your majesty. Rest as long as you wish.

When Strick says he is going to deload that means he will only OHP with 250 and set like 17 rep PR’s…Great pressing Big Man, enjoy the water park

Thanks Gents.

OG, I am pretty sure that I am actually going to semi-deload this time. I really need to.

Crushed, DBasler, thanks for the compliment, but I am definitely not the king. I might be worthy of the court.

Marauder Meat hit it last year. Although, I don’t see his log.

Also, Harry (hel320) can not only press over 300#, but can also clean it first. To add insult to injury, he is several years my senior and several dozen pounds lighter. While keeping me in my place, that agives me hope for the future.

Edited to add: I am pretty sure that Harry was Military Pressing over 300# before it was cool.

I have always said you are my OH Press hero!

what? no new PR’s in here in the last 22 hours.,oh well, I’ll check back later

I know…I know…I’m slacking. If I succeed in deloading, though, that’ll be a PR! lol

Before it is over, I will likely be saying that about you.

Deload…day 1 of 3 - Successful!
Yes, I know…1 day does not a deload make. It is a good start, though…especially for me.

To make sure that I didn’t get froggy, I mowed the grass right before lifting.

Mow grass - 1 hour - 102 degrees
come in and drink 24 oz. of water
rest 5 minutes

Alternated sets

Bench
barx20
135x10
185x5
225x5 - normal grip
225x5 - close grip
225x5 - wide grip

Lat Pulls
105x15x2
130x12
180x10x3

That was it. An actual deload. OG will be so proud…lol.

Go 'Bama! Go Dawgs! SEC…SEC…SEC

Okay…I successfully deloaded…minus 1 day. I completely skipped Sunday’s workout. I was, technically, supposed to deload today as well. Honestly, though, after 6 days, I was grumpy and feeling like crap. Taking time off always makes me feel bad, physically and mentally.
I ran out of gas at the end, but actually felt pretty good.

Alternated sets

Military Press

95x10
135x10
185x5

285x3 - PR +1 Rep – I just had no pop left after holding the bar up top after rep 3.

Face Pulls
90x15x2
120x12x4
135x10x2

Felt strong tonight. 185# was going up quick enough that the weights were clanging from the bar stopping up top and the weights keeping on going. In retrospect, had I stopped at 3 reps with 270#, I would have had 4, if not 5, at 285#. Next time…

Strong ass work!

Ahha, the PR drought is over!! Awesome stuff as always Big Man.

Thanks gents. Just hoping to maximize this period of growth. It is so weird how it seems to cycle. They do seem to come around slower and slower, though. lol

Saturday…Bench Day

I wasn’t sure what I was going to do today. I kind of played it by ear and ended up trying a very tired 405#. I got the rep, but had a bit too much recoil off my chest for my taste. It was a clean, and strong, rep. I wish I hadn’t doubted myself and let it rebound off the bottom…I didn’t need it. Either way, here is 405x1 on video.

Alternated sets

Bench
barx20
95x10
135x10
185x5
225x5
275x5
315x5
345x5
365x4 - PR +2 Reps - not sure how I never got more than 2 reps here before, but I hadn’t
385x2 - PR +1 Rep - caught a cramp in my right hammie at the end of the 2nd rep.
405x1 - matches PR - Got nervous and bounced. Didn’t need it, though.

Lat Pulls
120x12x3
175x10x7

I finally took the time to work on my home gym, which I use for lat pulls, pushdowns and face pulls. The bearings were, literally, coming out of one of the pulleys. I am not sure how much resistance that was adding, but it was definitely noticeable. It is now replaced. Of course, the plastic/rubber sheath, covering the cable, is disentigrating. That isn’t helping either.

Rep day tomorrow.

Nice PR, man. I though you were going to put the rack through the wall. May be time to bolt that puppy down.

Strong like bull. It’s great to see you moving that much weight.
