I’m surprised it’s that light especially being a Texas show. Aren’t those notorious for being static lift heavy in strongman? Should be able to blow through that shit ridiculously fast.
I could probably get 80 reps at 420, but it would take about 12 hours because I don’t think any given set would go over three reps.
However since the date will actually be 20/4/2020 I’ll just pull 204 for 20 sets of 20 instead.
I did! finished it in about 17 seconds. We had to wait for both up and down commands on each rep. Only a couple other guys in my class even finished the medley. Nobody else got through without straps. One guy failed at the barbell. There was another who went into the medley with no straps, failed the axle 3 times strapless. I tossed him mine to try to help, but at that point he was too gassed, so he didn’t finish.
I won’t clutter this thread with my full write up, I’ll put that in my own log.
spoiler alert: I won the show.
I’ll do 20 sets of 4
Funny how you have a wall of text post in protest to people smoking and lifting, but wanna play “devils advocate” when children wanna hop on cycle.
I smoke before every training session
I have a lot of high level competitive strength athlete friends who use marijuana regularly in conjunction with their training. And there are some big names in powerlifting (Brandon Allen) who are pretty open about doing so as well. I personally don’t use it at all, but I seriously doubt it has a significantly deleterious effect on training, given how well I know these guys perform.
Im def not a high level athlete, but for me it helps me get in the zone and makes the experience enjoyable. I space out mid-sentence when I talk to people after I first walk in, but once I’m warmed up I don’t feel any significant difference.
Although I’ve caught myself doing dumb shit like wearing wrist wraps for SSB or hatfield squats
You misinterpret my postings. I’m not encouraging children hop on, if you read my posts I clearly state that gear is NOT the right choice. I do however find it irritating that they’ll get chewed out for wanting to use a bit of test while no one says anything to a 24 y/o who decides to use 700mg tren 600mg year 50mg var for their first cycle
I don’t wish to argue with you, so I’ll just leave it here. You can think what you wish and I respect you’re opinion
I don’t think smoking cannabis regularly or before a training session is a good idea due to the notion of psychomotor impairment, it facillitates the possibility of injury, however if that works for you, go ahead. I personally can’t see how it’d help exercise performance, it makes me very hungry, I’d just be thinking about chicken during my lifts…
Also if you smoke before every training session @SOUL_FIGHTER wouldn’t that make you a daily or near daily user?
Out of curiosity (just curious because I’ve heard everything from “the effect is devastating” to “it’s not so bad” and literature is somewhat conflicting) if you smoke frequently, have you noticed a permenant lingering effect on cognition? What about cardiorespiratory fitness? Do you smoke a lot or is it similar to “one hit then put it down” etc.
Do you use for recreation or do you perceive medicinal value?
Oh one more… with frequent use, do you still perceive any benefit in terms of recreation? Or does such a tolerance build that you no longer really feel anything?
I was in Amsterdam for a while recently and towards the end I didn’t feel much or if I did… it took quite a lot
Im in a legal state for it. Im a daily recreational user and probably smoke about 4-8g a month. No issues in cognition. I didn’t smoke at all during undergrad, but was high most of grad school, and my GPA was near perfect in grad school. Cardio is fine too, for the demands I put to it like loaded carries, high rep sets, short rest periods and what not.
Interesting, it’s always refreshing to see how it effects others. Those who keep it in moderation appear to have minimal to no harm done.
My father is incredibly opiniated, stubborn and irritating (we fight all the time). He is a right wing individual (denies the severity and perhaps existence of climate change, unwaveringly will support Donald trump… which is fine, but he outright refuses to look at any news berating him, loves our president Scott Morrison despite his abysmal approval ratings etc). And says regular cannabis use is the worst thing in the world, and I say “but x y and z smoke daily and they have straight A’s”
I’ll always get the response “had they not smoked, they’d be absolutely unstoppable in the field of academics”…
I don’t smoke daily, but I can see credit where credits due, it effects everyone differently, and some can smoke daily, it has minimal impact (or will actually improve academic performance if it helps resolve a medical condition) for some… for me, I go full Otto the bus driver if I use frequently, thus it just isn’t for me aside from having fun intermittently
Then he will have the nerve to call me out as uneducated on the subject, talk down/consescendingly to me. He’s an amazing man, very intelligent, however our political ideologies and beliefs clash SO much it’s hard to get along with him
Damn I think it’s so weird when non-Americans are all about Trump
It’s because to us it’s so absurd someone like him could be in power. The unprofessionalism in and out of office is astounding. The blatant (to the opinion of mine and about 95% of Australians) corruption makes us think “what the fuck is happening to America”. However there are those that like him, so that’s fine
