Arthritis- Too Much Fish Oil?

I’m currently taking a large amount of fish oil for my shitty arthritis. I started with 12g daily of the OmegaRx product and that helped somewhat, then I added 8g of Flameout and that pretty much does the trick. But now I’m on 20g a day of fish oil- is this too much? I’m afraid if I take that much that I’ll bleed to death or something. I’m extremely averse to NSAIDs so I want to do everything I can to avoid resorting to them, but this shit really wears down on you. I just ordered some glucosamine & chondroitin to try, although I’m not terribly optimistic based on the research. Any other suggestions?

I dont know about the over use of fish oil…but if i were you i would scratch the glucosamine and chondroitin for an all in one joint supp. There are some good ones out there im currently on Universal Nutritions Animal Flex which has gotten nothing but amazing reviews. I have also hurd good things about controlled labs orange triad. I know animal flex has gluc and chond among many other great ingredients in it just a suggestion!

Add in some Vitamin K (the RDI was raised recently to 120 micrograms). Large doses of Fish Oil (or even regular doses of NSAIDs for that matter) will cause problems with the body “seeing” the Vitamin K. The body acts like it ain’t there when it needs to make the proteins for clotting and so consequently doesn’t make them (or at least doesn’t make it properly). Adding in the “extra” VK makes the body “see” it again and will make the proteins needed.

Hopefully that makes sense.

cissus might help just a thought.

I’d try playing with the ratio of Flameout vs OmegaRx to get the total amount down but still working for you. It may be Flameout is all you need if its the ratio of Omega 3’s that is doing it for you. If I remember right Flameout is way high in DHA vs EPA. I’d be worrying about the bleeding too. When I tried mega fish oil I was getting nose bleeds really easily.

Regarding the Glucosamine/Chondroitin. Dude, you’re just now trying that stuff? It must have been close to two years ago a jillion people were suggesting you give it a try. Anyway, I just remembered a topic related to this I want to post.
