There is a lot of research that indicates that training age and time under tension are critical factors in the equation of increasing muscle size. Your advice ensures that TUT is low and it ignores training age as a consideration.

Your general statement “he shouldn’t be doing reps of 12 he will see zero growth if he does that” doesn’t apply to a completely the new trainee.
