My damage is two mini cupcakes (one chocolate frosted the other one with some strange orange frosting) at the Halloween party. They were mighty tasty. But crap is crap, and this morning I’m so happy I didn’t have more of that white flour/white sugar/artificial everything shit. My body doesn’t like it when I feed it crap.
neither does mine! which is why I only eat a little bit, every once in awhile…Halloween included!
I’m making my hubby take all the candy with him to work tomorrow.
still hovering at 191…shouldn’t have had those brownies…ha.
Looking to dip into the 180’s this week…haven’t been there since BEFORE getting pregnant with my daughter…4 years ago? damn.
Im looking up pictures of female body builders and regular females who train with weights…
On Saturday I encountered the third woman who said during a set of shoulder presses “this isn’t going to make me look like a man, will it?” GRRRRRRRRRRRR…
I’ve been lifting for several years, and still waiting to look like I lift(working on that part, getting there!)
So I want to carry a few pics in my bag so they can SEE the difference…who’s the ideal? Jessica Beil?
Or I can use myself ![]()

If you haven’t seen this article, it gets right to the heart of this issue and I found it very disheartening:
and the follow-up
Hey, thanks for those links!!
My orientation went well, but she works nights, get’s off at 2am, and plans to work out then…so I did my best to show her stuff and give her tips!
It was my first time trying out those ab machine things, since she said she wants to ‘target her stomach.’ sigh And now I remember why I don’t use them, they are awkard and put a lot of strain on my back and neck…icky! But sometimes you just gotta give the people what they want, and show them how to at least do it so they don’t hurt themselves!
Training kicked my butt:
walk, jog combo-10min
Hyperextensions 2x10x35lb plate
Planks: 1:05!!!
50s!!
Front squat/press thing (forgot my camera, sorry to all my fans!
)
3x12x75
Single arm db shoulder press
3x8x35
supersetted with
Assisted pull-ups -75lbs assistance
3x5,4,4(goal is 8 for all sets, then lower the weight
Lat pull downs
3x8x100
Then one of the trainers came up to me and asked me to show HER how to squat in the rack…YES!!! She’s older and generally sticks to just db’s, but she wanted to switch it up for one of her clients…
Static Lunges
3x8x95
supersetted with
RDL’s
3x8x135
barf
Lat raises-
3x8x15s
Hammer curls
3x6,5,5x30s(tired of the stupid 25s!!!)
Preacher curl:
3x10,7,6x20
WAHOO!! when I can get 10 on all sets I will move up in weight.
EATS!
9am- turkey meatballs+cabbage(breakfast of champions!!)
2 fish oils
Training 10-1130am
130pm- chicken+broccoli (tad bit of teriyaki sauce) starving, since I had an Orientation at noon…) I’ll have to do a protein shake in between next time.
4pm- greek yogurt?
6pm- a protein a veggie!
2 fish oils
40 lbs in a year! Damn, you are kicking ass!
You mentioned Man vs. Food, which I watch occasionally as some food porn. I do have ethical objections to it (ex: people are starving in our country and around the world and we have a show dedicated to overeating? Fucked up), but nevertheless, I LOVE watching the food network. It is like pleasurable torture. I wish I could cook and eat all the time.
Hope to hear better news about things with your man.
Well Helloo!
Been a long time. Haven’t died yet, but I sure feel like it. I have been sidelined since Sept. 15. Don’t know exactly what I did, but its a pinched nerve of some kind. Bulging Disc - herniated disc don’t know. My dr. just sent me over to neuroligist and I see him on Monday. I haven’t been able to do any lifting or cardio and I am packing on the weight. I really hope I can kick butt when I get some relief. At least I can walk again. Getting in and out of car is still a chore.
I see that you are still kicking butt. Hoorah for you. I heard from Amanda Gano the other day. Sent picture of hayden. he is so adorable.
Well you keep kicking butt. I hope I can find myself a again. Hopefully my daughters and I can go on a journey together to get this weight off.
Tootles!

Karen!
Good to see you! Actually Shauna up there reminded me of you the other day, cause she’s doing the AD, and I went back and found that ebook you sent me…
sad to hear about what you are going through…it’s so easy to get hurt in the weight room and have no clue how it happened! Are you doing physical therapy or anything?
Hope to see you around!
Kim- thanks again for those links…I printed them off to read and saved them to my favorites…Leigh always has a way of getting the words out exactly how I was thinking! It’s funny, because that pic of Jessica Beil is the one I printed off! I can’t believe women think THAT is bulky…

That’s sweet you can press 75 and 35 dbs. I haven’t gotten there yet. Strong shoulders. ![]()

Yeah, please. I would kill for JB’s butt. How could anyone not think she looks beautiful?
I think her upper bod is pretty nice…I read that she scaled back the muscle for some acting gig though…
Nearly everyone of these orientation questionnaires I have lists goal of ‘toning up.’
I’m guessing that means lose fat? lol.
If women want to lose fat and ‘tone up’, how exactly do you do that without lifting weights? 45 min on the eliptical and a set of girl push ups?
I think the next potential client I get, I’ll put them through one of those barbell complexes :evil laugh:
All I can do is keep lifting heavy(er) than the average girl, and be the example of not looking like a man! haha…

Those articles just made me so angry. Shouldn’t have: everyone is entitled to their opinion and all. But I NEVER thought that other women would judge me harshly on having the bit of muscle I’ve earned. Frankly, I thought it would be men who didn’t like the “hardbody” look – and on that, I admit to having been very, very mistaken.

Thanks Toots! ![]()
Trying to keep the excitement alive! But I’m learning the general pop of women are just not as excited about lifting as I, or any of the girls here…
I’ve incorporated a few new questions in my dialogue with the peeps, and ask ‘how do you see yourself reaching your goals?’ If there answer is 6 days of cardio, I know I have my work cut out for me!

I know! It’s like we can’t win!
As a female who lifts and is now a trainer I’m thinking I need to rethink my strategies!

Training women (not us…the average gym-going female) is tricky, I think. Alot of women are unable/unwilling/afraid to speak up about their goals, or really don’t know exactly what they want. Then, if what they really want is the skinny-fat look and they are of “a certain age”, how do you make them happy?
I was talking with a friend recently who I “inspired” to start with a personal trainer (yes, I showed her my abs – I’m whoring for the cause). Anyway, she is 39 and has always been effortlessly skinny-fat. The age thing caught up with her and she started to flab out. What she really wants is a killer ass, but she hasn’t told the trainer. So she’s unhappy at her lack of fat-loss progress due to a crap diet, and she is not communicating with her trainer about her real goals so the training program itself isn’t right. Yes, I bitch-slapped her. With love.
I feel for you. I don’t know if I could do your job without killing someone.
One girl who is interested has a fitness goal of ‘toning up’ when really she wants to get STRONGER! Big difference there…
That’s why I’m asking THEM exactly what there goals are and how they see themselves reaching them…
One woman’s goal was to ‘tone,’ abs and arms…huh? So you don’t care about your legs, back, um, the rest of your body?
They just need a new way of thinking is all!
