you are so lucky to be able to shop at whole foods, Kim…
I told the hubby that I would be more than willing to make the trip and spend $200/month on meats if that’s what it took…but when I’m pulling in a bit more money.

For now, we are overhauling our cabinets and fridge with the things we eat the most, but just BETTER!
Anything with corn syrup IS NOT ALLOWED!! Anything with a bazillion ingredients you can’t pronounce, not allowed! That matters most to us right now, and its what we can afford to do RIGHT NOW…everything matters though! For us, we have to be realistic and make small changes as we move forward.

Our grocery list is so much smaller now! :wink:

There aren’t any good stores around here…We’ve got Food lion, Shoppers, Giant and Wal-mart. The Target we have have a small grocery section now. But mostly we shop at the commissary on base, cause its cheap!

No options to buy organic meant that I’ve seen…although I owe a second look! I doubt Food lion does, but maybe the others…I’ll find out today!

We will shop our local farmers markets when they come into season as well! I’d like to plant a small garden, but there are too many bunnies and squirrels around here!

I’ll opt for a few indoor things I can grow. Buying meat from the Amish is still not out of the question…it was a bit cheaper than whole foods…Also we were looking online and there are a LOT of organic farms around, that ship direct!

You might want to check if a farm in your area runs a CSA. That would most likely come out cheaper than shopping weekly at the farmer’s market.

I know what you mean about not having the huge chunk of money at one go.

They probably do have an installment plan, many do. Especially since it’s only January. Just a thought! I’m a big supporter of the model so I suggest them whenever I can. :slight_smile:

The only thing I’m stumped on is when to throw my running program in…probably after weights, cause the day after (especially on squat and DL days) I’ll be too sore to jog, but I’m just guessing…

Took a second look in our local grocery store, and there is an organic line of meats/poultry!! :hyper: If we buy as needed, its doable…so excited! :slight_smile:

Oh, I mentioned in Cbears log that I think I may have found the culprit of these migraines…
they come on mid morning, while Im training or just sitting lol…I think its the HOT-ROX :frowning:

It wouldnt make me sad to give them up, cause I did just fine without them…besides, I dont really feel anything and I take both pills at once…but Im noticing that maybe as they are wearing off Im getting a headache…grrr.
Ill try taking just ONE at a time, and see if that helps…otherwise, I like my redbull everyonce in awhile if I feel like Im dragging.

Since a lot of you seem to be in the ‘cutting boat,’ thought I’d take the initiative and keep track of foods here for awhile…and it could be fun to see what everyone else is eating if you decide to keep track too! :slight_smile:
Im not doing anything drastic…KISS for me!
Im not a fan of calorie counting, and eating certain amounts of this and that…it drives me nuts…I monitor progress by measurements/scale/mirror…but I keep track of what Im eating and know when to back off of something if Im gaining/not losing…basically I eat when Im hungry and stop when Im comfortably full…may not be conventional, but it’s been working for me!

Habit maybe? I like high volume work, and since I’m only there 3x/week I make sure to hit everything purdy good!
I swear Im not doing more than what I have the energy for, and the whole session took about an hour…I tend to superset exercises as well.

And its not that much more than the Dave Tate protocol listed :wink:

5/3/1 is a strength based program…you primarily focus on bench, squat, DL and military press…its based off of percentages of how much your maxes are(if you know them) And then you add in accessory stuff as needed/wanted?

Its pretty cool!

I got my jog on this morning…went to the drill hall and did it …Its in the 20s and windy, no running outdoors for me! Only took 1 HOT-ROX this am…I still got a headache, which means no more HOT-ROX for me!!

I was thinking, and Im proud to say that I lost the majority of my weight w/o counting and eating certain amounts of this and that…but for the last 10-15lbs or so, I may have to dial it in more…the thought of counting stuff makes me ga-ga…

I’ll give it another 2 months the ‘Betty way,’ and go from there! I weigh in weekly, and do measurements every 2 weeks…so far I am maintaining…but I can’t possibly be satisfied being 180 for the rest of my life, can I? hmm
This is the year to LLIL!!!(look like I LIFT!!)
I’d like to shift more focus back over to measurements and BF% anyway…oh and the mirror of course!

taking those pics every 2 weeks will be awesome as well! Oh did I mention? I’m doing the PN Lean Eating Alumni program for the next 6 months! I did the original program NOV of 08-May of 09…learned a TON and now back for more…with a prize of $10,000 for best transformation WHY NOT!!! :smiley:

MIM, just wondering… wht not switch out the cottage cheese for lean cuts? You’ll burn more calories just by the simple process of your body breaking it down and dairy =bloat. Just a thought…

cause I have to go grocery shopping? smile It’s not an everyday thing, but it’s simple and quick! TBH, lately I haven’t even been eating an afternoon snack , cause Im not hungry…or by the time I am we are making dinner anyway, so I just hold out.
Currently I am eating a meal pwo, when I get hungry… today I had the pintos, lettuce etc…eventually I will add in a whey drink(shake?) immediately pwo, when I can find one that isnt overly processed!

Walking lunges with the 30s is awesome. I’m still working on the 25s.

I’m sorry to hear your shoulder is bothering you. Definitely work around that.
