Anything's Possible

Im not fond of running 5ks either! LOL!

But I’m at least going to do this c25k program, even if I don’t actually DO the 5k…but why not?! Its on St Pattys day! Then i can celebrate with some corned beef…
I was only partially joking about competing in 5ks…but my friend is doing one, and I thought it would be ‘fun.’ Even if its only just once…theN i could say, ‘ya, I did that!’

Trained the last time of '09!

I was surprised not many people were there…but VIC(trainer, bb’er guy) was with his training partner…this girl LOOKS like she can compete, but she doesnt.she’s strong as hell, and I long to be like her when I grow up…

She’s probably about 130lbs and she was benching 4x10x135! dang…

I may not compete in anything next year, but damnit, Im gonna make it my goal to LOOK like I do! ;< grrrrr

I want to be her when I grow up too!
Good luck on the 5k. I’ve done em – I’ve heard it only takes 6 weeks to prepare. Your endurance goes up FAST, just like newbie gains in the weight room.

Thanks!
Even if I don’t run the actual 5k, here is the program if anyone is interested!

I quit corn…I dont think its in my head that I keep breaking out when I eat something with corn in it ;<
And I’ve had a killer headache since Monday…calgon take me away!

One more thing…It wouldn’t be me, if I didn’t finish what I started…I’ll be doing a quicky diet, starting tomorrow(along with the millions of other people dieting) til Jan 26th…a year to the date that I was 230lbs…Then on Jan 30th is the Biggest Loser kick off at our gym…but this time I’ll be helping, not competing…and I can officially say that I lost over 50lbs!! They might even post some of my before and afters!

I’m still going to start 5/3/1,but just setting the lifts really loooow…I need to get this dieting out of my system…so I can then focus on maintaining(or maybe losing still? and getting stronger! grrrrr!) After dieting, I will focus more on the BF%
I’d like to see if I can get to at least 20% by Spring…how cool would that be?

You’ve done such an awesome job with your fitness and weight loss this year! 2010 will be a great year for you too.

Aww that’s my 2010 goal…

Not to be 130 lbs, but I’ll take the 135 bench!

I forgot to mention that she went for what must have been a burn out set for AMRAP @ 155… :thud:

I think I was drooling, and felt really lame with my 45s I was benching, LOL!

Cheers to a New Year and another chance for us to get it right. (Oprah, I think)

I actually stayed awake to ring in the New Year!

More good news: I’ve maintained my weight through the holidays!! :hyper: I’ve leveled out at 183…I was gonna go all out hardcore dieting starting today, but I can hold off for a another week or so…I bet if I clean up the food even more and add in my cardio days, I may not have to diet!

I made it to the gym today for my first jog! 60s job, 90s rest for 20min…

I like this song…
‘double yo mon-ay!’

Good plan. Not having to diet is the right mindset to living the rest of your life at or below this weight.

diet- a 4 letter word even a pig like me wont use.

Indeed. Diet is Die with a T. I prefer “cut” - it makes deprivation sound more acceptable, somehow.
Anyway, nice going. I blobbed out quite seriously in December, so I’m going to have to cut now. Doh. Own fault, and all that. (Damn you, peanut M&Ms!)

It’s a Christmas Miracle…Claire posted on my log!! My year is complete now :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
*just teasin ya

Cal- cutting sounds Emo…And Emo reminds me of Elmo, LOL!

Btw, anyone have good book recs on mobility drills/stretching?

I know there is a plethora of stuff on youtube…

I got a gift card to barnes and noble  Just wondering!

If I were in the market, I would buy either of two DVD’s:

Magnificent Mobility for lower body
http://www.magnificentmobility.com/

or
Inside Out for upper body

or

Assess and Correct to figure out where imbalances are and how to correct them

Unfortunately, none of these seem to be available at Barnes & Noble. I do have Eric Cressey’s book “Maximum Strength” and he goes into pretty specific detail in there about his mobility warmups. That is available at B&N.

Obviously, I am a big EC fan for stuff like this.

we’re back from our excursion! It was fun, but I see why now that store is called ‘whole paycheck,’ sheesh!

We got mostly snack things(chips, cereal bars) oatmeal, pb and waffles…but if you look close enough in regular stores you can find the same stuff…
Plus there is a natural food store about 20 minutes away that I LOVE! Our only dilemma now is what to do about meats…I liked the selection they had, but it wouldnt be within our budget at this time…

what do you all do and where do you shop?

We’re hoping that the hubby can get a dear or two before spring!

Kimba- thanks for those links!
I checked the store itself and there wasnt anything on mobility…I suppose videos on youtube will have to do for now!

I told you to get ready to double your grocery bill! haha

ohh, I see what you mean now!

We wont be strictly shopping there though…its about an 1.5 hrs away!

Btw, I forgot I had EC’s max strength book…I forgot about the mobility stuff it has in there!

To answer your question, I grocery shop at Whole Paycheck and feel lucky that I can pay the price.

If you do the mobility drills in Max Strength you will be good.

lucky kimba! i realize if i cut back on wine, i could spend more on food. it’s all about give and take for me.

yep, MIM, good eats can be costly. and whole foods is in another category of costly eats. fortunately here in N CA, we have Raley’s and Nugget which have excellent food options and manageable prices. i eat a lot of turkey. if i do want some ‘burger’ i will buy the free range kind.

i don’t buy any packaged stuff (no kids, that’s easy for me) except my barilla omega pasta. if the misses wants some waffles or anything like that i get organic or least processed kind. you end up doing a lot of reading at first.

as you have discovered, there are many facets to the “costs” of food. environmental, cost to your body, to the animals, and obvious cost to your pocket book. it comes down to what matters most to you, i suppose. i just try to meet all my concerns as best i can. if i had unlimited funds, it would be a different story.
