Anything's Possible

Yes, HUGE indeed…he always thought, well if we don’t buy it, what is there left to eat?! lol

Dinner has been the most challenging area I’ve had to contend with…other than that I’m on my own during the day to eat my ‘Betty food.’

So on with more talk of dieting…I know Ive said I wanted to start 5/3/1 in Jan…but Im going to use Jan to cut a bit more weight…(and then I’ll post my new pics! )

After that, focus on getting strength/endurance back and practice maintaining weight…towards spring I’ll see how I feel/look…

Im having a hard time switching my mindset from fat loss to strength training though. And dieting or eating for maintainence, but wanting to strength train but still keep cals low to see if I can still cut weight…aghhh!!!

I know strength training+ low cals do not mix…

I need a swift kick in the arse and just go for it…lifting heavy is what drew me in to begin with…I want to get back to that!

Speaking of training, I did that today!

taking a break from tbt this week…

military-
5x5x70

single db press
4x10x25

Latpulldown-
4x10x100

lat raises-
3x12x12s

Tricep pushdown
4x10x35

Upright bike-20 minutes-hill level 8

Nice MIM, congrats on getting the hubby on board!

You know I’m not super versed in these matters, but I’ve read somewhere that it is possible to gain muscle and cut fat - is it carb cycling maybe?

I was just going to edit my last post, then my computer went whacky…

I think Im addicted to dieting, lol…Ive been doing it for so long that its like Im afraid to live ‘normally.’ But this is what I NEED!
I know I can still get to my ‘magic,’ number with clean eats, and more cardio…

Masch- yes, carb cycling!! Gotta try it, but honestly I like to keep it low carb as it is…today for example, Im having a heap of cauli with some steak for lunch!

I wonder if its possible to do a 5/3/1 while doing total body still?

For instance, the focus(for me) would be on squat, DL, and military and then throw in whatever else I want on those days…

Squat(5/3/1)
lunges
db bench
row

DL(5/3/1)
front squat
rdl
incline press

military(5/3/1)
step ups
pushups
lat pull

something like that…I like the 3days a week, cause it will allow me to get out on non training days for some extra cardio…Im doing the couch 2 5k program, teehee…plus with school and an impending job…ya, life.

Feeling productive today!

I emailed the state chair(stronman) and asked what we could do to get a local strongman comp promoted!! wahoo!!

I also, foolishly volunteered to train with a friend who is running a 5k in March…might even DO the 5k!!

I also called to speak to a nurse, cause Im having hivey flare ups again :frowning:

forgot…I had ketchup(with my steak) at lunch and not even an hour later had a hive flare…there is corn syrup in ketchup! coicedence??

I have an appt in the morning…

My husband is nutty, and rubbed ketchup on my arm to see what happens, LOL! But I dont know whos nuttier, me for letting him? haha

actually, not funny!
I broke out an hr later after he rubbed ketchup on my arm…weeeeeird!!

oh man sucks about the allergies… i’m interested to hear what they say at ur appointment. what a pain!

food, inc…i’ve been meaning to watch that.

hope u get this allergy thing figured out and can figure out what you can and can’t eat. it seems so unfair that we can SUDDENLY be allergic to something.

No. Way. That is messed up. heading to the fridge for some ketchup

Hi!

You’ll be surprised at how quickly you can start to run that distance. I have my first 5k on Thursday and I just started running in the spring.

That really sucks about your allergies.

Maybe its kind of good this is happening…it sure has opened the hubby’s eyes about healthy foods…
He is starting to look at the ingredient labels on stuff and is surprised at how much corn syrup is in everything!

Its sad that food can be manufactured so easily and at a cheaper cost just by adding chemicals to it…

Whatever the outcome, we will be making a lot of changes around here!

Deja- Food INC scared the crap out of me…be warned!

A- you crack me up! :stuck_out_tongue:

HI Magzie! running is something I hate…but I figure that will just make it all the more challenging…

True. You never know till you try.

Hope you’re feeling better.

Thanks Skye!
I think Im in the clear…

Went and saw the doc yesterday(not my doc cause shes a whackjob) but this lady was really nice and down to earth…she sent me to the lab to get an initial food allergy test done, and she put in a referral for me to see an allergist!

I was talking to my hubby more about me getting a job…

The sucky thing about that, is that once I get a ‘real,’ job, the cost of Julia’s(daughter) daycare goes UP…and then what about the summer? Id have to pay for Coby(son) to go somewhere too! So basically Id be working to pay for daycare…doesn’t make much sense, unless I was making $3,000/month…

oh what to do what to do…

My solution is to just stay in school! I get nearly 1400/month going full time(military benefits)…
there was a job opening at the gym on base-40hrs a week @ 8/hr…thats about as good as its getting around these parts…

I will do everything I need to do to enroll in the physical therapy program…Im nervous, cause it sounds HARD! And I hate the million APA papers that might be involved…but its a competitive program…theres no guarantee that Id even be accepted…so then what? :idk:
I’ll use this time to go to job fairs and keep the hope with the personal training thing…and maybe something else will be revealed to me…

That post was getting long,

Wanted to mention that I contacted the state chair for the strongman stuff…he’s had the same problems getting more females involved…bummer. I said I’d do anything I could to help rally more people down here,(he’s 2.5hrs away!!)

I dont want to start training for a contest that’s not even in place yet…it would be in August if there were…5/3/1 will help to get me stronger at least!

And Im still toying with the idea of doing a bb’ing comp! I need something to look forward too…Im starting to feel frumpy.

The Strongman challenge that you were talking about last year, I know you didn’t do it, but did any women participate?

I’m planning on starting some training with that kind of competition in mind but it really doesn’t seem that popular for women in terms of competing. I think during my research I’ve seen 1 competition that has a female division in Ontario.

Did you train toward it at all? How did that go if you did?

Hey Magz-
I think overall 2 women competed!

Its not popular at all for females, it seems…do you have any sites that you look at, that lists upcoming comps or anything?

I trained a few events for about a month until I decided that I wouldn’t be doing the comp…it was too far away(about 8hrs!) and I only had like 2 months to train if I was going to do it!

Yeah, I was looking at the weights used for the women and they seem retardedly hard. But I like the idea of being strong and having the time/distance constraints.

ontariostrongman.ca hasn’t posted any 2010 events yet.

BTW you look really great after your weight loss/strength gains.

you should do 5/3/1…all the cool kids are doing it!

I like the idea of of strongman stuff to!

Thats why Im choosing to get strong and compete in 5ks, LOL! Thanks for the compliments…

It sounds like you are in a time of transition and change. That’s challenging, and I wish you luck sorting this all out.

Which you will, in time.

wise kimba, your posts are always poignant. i too hope you find your path MIM!
i’m not so fond of you running 5Ks but it’s your body and i’ll cheer for you whatever you decide to do.
