Anything's Possible

With the new year upon us, I thought I’d share some of my goals for 2010! I pretty much accomplished everything for 2009(got below 200, worked hard, got(earned) a job)

-Get to my goal weight of 170-175 by the end of JAN most likely(HOW EXCITING!!)

-Finish school in FEB!!!

  • do 1, just 1 FREAKIN wide grip pull up(and then 2, 3, 4 etc)

  • Wear a swim suit in public, a bikini even??? :open_mouth:

  • Maintain my weight

  • keep getting stronger(and hotter)

  • promote a strongman comp for woman???

  • get more active in the gym(socially, professionally)

  • do more FUN stuff with family

  • do more camping next summer

  • go on more hikes

  • do more canoeing!

  • go on more dates with the hubby

  • get more organized

  • stop procrastinating!

Those are some awesome goals and I agree with you about the contest! I think it’s a huge distraction to what people truly love, and from what I’ve seen it doesn’t look very healthy for you in the long run.

Let’s get this one in 2010! I’m right there with you.

Awesome goals, ambitious but doable. One suggestion: make them quantifiable. How will you know when you have achieved “stop procrastinating”? How wide is a wide grip pullup?

I was mostly kidding about the procrastinating… Like school work and putting laundry away…meh…last second is always more exciting!

But as far as personal goals go,I’ve learned that if you want something bad enough, you can’t just sit around complaining that it’s not happening…YOU have to get off your ass, stop whining, work hard and JUST DO IT! :stuck_out_tongue:

I would also like to have a 225lb squat under my belt

I’ll probably end up taking a stab at 5/3/1…I’ve never been on a formal strength program before! we’ll see…

A wide grip pull up…I dunno, the standard? at least shoulder width or a bit outside.

kudos for putting those goals on ‘paper’ (computer screen) very helpful in making them materialize. i better get to that myself!

so, i’m with you on the pull up…i can barely do one. AND, i’m thinkin of stabbing that 5/3/1 as well. let’s do it. when might you be able to start it?

Probably some time in JAN maybe?

I think I met my match at the gym…well, we didnt actually meet, but I spotted her and I think she noticed me…so we were sizing each other up, haha…the girl was db benching the 70s! whaaaat?! and 1 arm rowing the 70s too…

So training was pretty good…thinking of taking the next two days to recoop! and then hit hard Friday/Saturday, and start my diet again Monday…blah.

Squat!
6x12,12,10,8,6,3(bar, 95,115,135,155)

I feel like I should be so much further ahead than I am with the squat…only seriously started squatting this summer…I guess it would help if I consistently trained it, but I don’t…it is what it is…and this is what my squat has morphed into…My feet are out about as wide as I can take them…the width of the inside of the rack? I like squatting but I suck at it!!! ;<

Db sumo squat
4x12x90lb db

Static lunge
4x8x115

RDL
4x8x135

Db side bend(like doin em every once in awhile)
4x12x50lb

Calf thingy
4x12x200

Biking-interval @10- 15min

Yay! Another sock-footed squatter. I am not qualified to give any squat advice, but no lift will get better form on it if you don’t train it.

I’m trying to visualize your DB sumo squat. I’m assuming its one dumbbell that you are holding goblet squat style (ie. both hands on one of the “heads” so to speak?) Frankly, I’m not sure I could get a 90# dumbbell on and off the dumbbell rack. Nice job!

I don’t know as much about this as some, so don’t be offended if I’m wrong, but the squats looked a smidge high.

i was soooooooo tempted to lift in my socks today. after you all pointed out my chooz and mentioned my heels lifting, what a difference.

i don’t think you ‘suck’ at squats. enjoy your rest days if you take em, that is. you probably should after that wrkout, girly.

oh, what is your calf thingy? at that weight i’m guessing you used the leg press or something? oh, or the regular one for calves (that kills the arch of my foot) probably that one…silly me for askin’

ya, that looked a smidge high cause they were! But I wanna say that are at least at parallel, no? If not, it’s what my flexibility allows for I suppose…when I try and bring my feet in closer, it feels awkward.

The sumo db squat is done by placing the db on the floor, vertically, and you pick it up, put it down, etc…lol It’s a good stretch!

Since I prefer all this squattin sumo style, Im going to try my hand at sumo dl’ing on Friday…I’ve done it before just not in awhile!

Those DB Sumo squats sound interesting, will have to try…for some reason, I can’t see videos here, pictures show up but no videos. Suck! Anybody know how to fix this?

I cant see video’s either :frowning:

I’m with you, Figure isnt for me but I still love to lift heavy. The dieting would drive my hormones nuts and Ive already got a few hormone imbalances as is.

I’m going to try the sumo DB squat. Another one to do when and if the squat racks are busy.

ya, I already had? have thyroid issues…but funnily enough, losing weight and not eating gluten has ‘cured,’ it!

I’ve been looking back at completed strongman comps…I can DO THAT!!

Getting a hold of the state chair to get a contest promoted is at the top of my list…there has GOT TO BE other woman around here, like me, who have an interest but lack opportunities…

Nice work.

pressing 50’s is good, nice work on the sqauts too.

and what is wrong with procrastination??

Umm, I’ll get back to that tomorrow! :stuck_out_tongue:

I ate a cinammon roll drool ya, I’ll pay for it later…but it was soooo good!

Happy Harvest Day to all! (or whatever expression suits you!

Seems like you’ve been doing great, keep the good work.

Thanks!
Hope everyone had a fabulous day yesterday!

My inner thighs(adductors) are still barking at me from Tuesdays db sumo squats! So no sumo DL’ing today…
…been reading over my 531 manual(thanks DEJA!!!) and getting pretty excited…part of me says ‘SCREW DIETING!!!’ But it’s important to me to finish what I started…when I get to 180, that will be a 50lb loss this year!! I can cut more weight off towards the spring…

MIM, what did you decide to do? The BB comp or the PL?
BTW, 531 is the shit! I want to start doing the 20 hill sprints he recommends so I can eat whatever I want, just trying to figure out where to put them…

Skye- NEITHER! :stuck_out_tongue:

For now, I just want to focus on getting stronger(and hotter :stuck_out_tongue: )

I would, however, like to promote a strongman comp…

Hill sprints, ya. …you got good hills around you?
