I haven’t been around in many years.
What I believe it does if I recall correctly is allows the body to enter rem sleep faster than it normally would. This allows the body to have more optimal rest while during this time the body releases its own gh.
Edit: From my understanding there is next to none, if any at all real ghb still around as there chems are no longer available to manufacture it. What seems to be around more now adays is GBL which has a lot of the same effects.
Naw that can’t be true. If you can get GBL, GHB is quite easy to make at home with some chemicals you can buy in stores. GBL is an industrial solvent, so it is definitely around. Still hard to get though.
“GHB can be both physically addicting and mentally habituating for a small percentage of users. We have received reports from a few individuals of severe withdrawal symptoms lasting for several days following repeated daily use. These symptoms include a strong desire to repeat the experience, difficulty sleeping, vertigo, and worrisome chest pains.”

Would the effects on REM sleep be any more effective that other sleep aids available at the time?
The only people i knew doing the shit were rave freaks and ex-pill junkies not bbers.
Just my experience though
Yeah, I know. It used to be popular at nightclubs but it started as a bodybuilding supplement. I was actually turned on to it by my bodybuilding trainer many years ago. He gave me a cap before my workout one time and I remember lifting much harder than normal. You could get it at nutrition stores back then.
Since it got labeled as a “date rape” drug it completely disappeared but I wonder if it does have some genuine BB applications.
I recently started a thread on this. This drug has the dubious distinction of being the only drug with two schedulings in the US. If you call it GHB, it is a Schedule I drug, like heroin. If you call it by it’s pharmaceutical name, XYREM, it is a schedule 3, drug and can be prescribed by doctors under certain restrictions.
Now, the problem is that it is called an orphan drug and only one pharmacy in the United States has the right to dispense it. It costs $500 (at least) a month. It’s FDA approved on-label use is for narcolepsy with cataplexy, but some doctors prescribe it for severe insomnia.
Now, this same drug, which used to be called a supplement before it was labeled “dangerous” cost about $30/month back in the 90s.
It has also proven to raise Growth Hormone levels.

It would be tough to say without looking at a study. However many of the sleep aids out there now adays knock you out so to speak however dont allow you to enter actual rem sleep any faster. And I do say most and not all.
I have also read that due to the fact of the body entering rem sleep faster then the body does release more of its own actual growth hormone.
If I had as easy of access to it as I did 5 years ago when I was using it occasionally recreationaly, then I would likely supplement with it on a fairly regular basis followed by periods of off time.
I believe it was FG who did say some time ago that he still does supplement with it from time as a pre bed supplement.
10 years ago, some friends gave me some HGB before going to a party. They mixed it in grapefruit juice.
We got to the party, was waiting at coat-check, and the next thing I knew, I was waking up in the hospital.
Seems I passed out, vomited, and aspired vomit into my lungs. Was in the hospital for 5 days.
Never again.
Sounds like your “friends” didn’t know how to take care of you.
I know a couple of guys who use GBL and GHB every night when they go to bed…I really don’t think I’ve ever known anyone as addicted as they are to a drug, its crazy.
I dont think I would want to mess with that shit, I would probably get addicted in a heart beat.

Damn, NycMan - sounds like your “friends” didn’t know what the hell they were doing and didn’t know how to take care of you.
You can’t trust your life on others. [/quote]
You’re right on both counts, but I learned a big lesson.
No alcohol was involved. I was just getting to the party, waiting at coat check.
I had felt safe using it, because I know that years ago it used to be sold in health food stores…
Anyway, still alive. hehe

Sounds to me like the grapefruit juice potentiated the effects of the GHB, making your dose into an overdose.
I too have passed out on GHB. I woke up, face down on the mattress, lol.

Bushido, is GHB completely legal and readily available in the UK or is it scheduled, as it is here in the US?
GHB use will result in REM sleep (stage 3 and 4 sleep from memory which is when HGH is released). I have used it many times but rarely to sleep but I have a paradoxical response to a lot of drugs. I used it most often to party or to help ease me down off coke or pills.
Besides the REM sleep thing (From memory again) GHB is a precurser to GABA which is a precurser to HGH (which can be increased if taking Caber or Bromo because Prolactin is a GABA antagonist so reducing Prolactin will increase free GABA and thus converted to HGH) but I may have my chem wrong so if bushy or someone else more knowledgeable can correct me that would be appreciated. It was a long time ago I read that bit of info and I may be fucking it up.
Either way I think GHB is fairly misunderstood…it is about as dangerous as alcohol, maybe less so. The problem is that there isn’t a standard dose of GHB like there is with alcohol (imagine if your beers varied in alcohol content from 2-80% alcohol…there is no quality control from batch to batch and G sinks in water so it is always way stronger at the bottom of the bottle or drink). Also people don’t always follow the advice to not mix it with alcohol and other drugs. Personally I like G best mixed with red bull, vodka, MDMA, and strippers but I like to party.
Amen to that! Sounds like another night out here in south beach… Damn 24hr strip club we have downtown.
