Anyone Train MMA While in Ketosis?

My doctor is trying to determine what im allergic by putting me on an “elimination” diet. Its high protein, high fat & zero carbs.

I just want some feedback on how you felt while training & what happended to your body. Did it affect your chin? Endurance? Strength? Size?

I still plan to do my S&C & Cardio in the AMs & skills at night, so i am expecting fry some muscle. I have read alot of Dave Palumbos work lately (BBer i know recommnded his Q&A forum), he states zero carbs is easier than some - if have some, your body wants more, if it knows its getting none, it will “switch” to being fueled by ketones & you’ll feel good.

Obviously Palumbo is BB first, but he you cant deny the mans knowledge.

Imo zero carbs will be hard but you’re still getting fuel.

So in theory, if you’re matching the same amount of calories that you were getting previously when your diet included carbs then it shouldn’t be a problem.

but don’t eat fats after you train, when your body is in that ‘uptake’ period it will uptake fats a lot faster too and store them.

I’d also be worried about teaching your body to use protein as its primary energy source.

But honestly I have no idea to tell you the truth. This is just shit I immediately thought of.

I dont like the idea of no carbs with mma training. ESPECIALLY training twice a day.

Imo you need to make a trade off and just train one till your doctor finishes his work.

I agree with Xen, I think it would be tough, especially since you train twice a day.

Not trying to hijack, but I would be interested in looking at your meal plan. Since it’s zero carb, I assume you will be eating beef, chicken, turkey, fish, cheese, etc. Are whey and veggies out of the question, since they do contain some carbs?

My doc lift weights & i spoke to a BB friend of mine. He said start with the simple Dave Palumbos (hes a Palumbo client) diet & my doc OK’d it:

M1 - 4 omega 3 eggs
M2 - Whey & natural peanut butter shake
M3 - 200g chicken
M4 - As M2
M5 - 200g lean beef
M6 - M2 or 2 O3 eggs & 300g egg whites

Whey is ok as it has the least lactose, so long as i choose as low-carb as i can get. No veggies yet though.

Cool, thanks for posting.

I know Isopure is zero-carb, but it’s ridiculously expensive. Grow! Whey from Biotest is good (2g carbs).

You said no veggies: is your doc telling you to hold off on them for the time being? Will you be adding them back in anytime soon?
