Anyone Seen This Guy? (Bodyweight Training)

Jim Bathurst at BeastSkills.com can do lots of stuff like this (planches, one arm chin, iron cross, front lever, one arm handstand, flag), and he benches 300, squats 400, deadlifts about 500 all at a bodyweight of 150-160. He can also do a chinup plus his entire bodyweight. So, yeah, it happens.

I knew there were a few of them out there but I’ve never met one before. Seems to be rare especially with guys weighing over 250+ lbs. Biggest guy I’ve ever seen doing clapping pullups was Jesse Marunde.

BeastSkills.com is what got me into having both break dancing and weightlifting as a duel goal. At first I thought I would have to choose, but I am getting there doing both.
The trick is to concentrate on one more than the other in macro-periods.

So, yes, I am doing leg work these days, despite my goal to get my planche into push ups.

Also goes to show the versatility of this site: I thought that only Powerlifting and the occasional Weightlifting topic was discussed in the forum when I first joined.

Have you guys ever met anyone who can do all these fancy bodyweight exercises while still being able to squat, deadlift, or clean 3+ times his bodyweight?

yes, 655 deadlift at 185 lbs.

same guy as

Nope, different members of the same crew.

All these dudes are impressive regardless. I’d love to see just one member on here post up a video like this (disregard all the smacktalk):

I realised they were different guys right after I posted it. I just figured that they were the same guy, becuase they were from the same channel.

Those videos aren’t Crossfit dudes.
Theyre all part of a group called the Bartendaz . I think their myspace name is Bartendaz_NYC.
They posses THE most beast skills on the planet.

Its a bit annoying that people all assume you have to sacrifice lower body strength and mass to be able to be good at this stuff. In the older days quite a few strongman and bodybuilders (talking Jack Lalanne and Steve Reeves era) could all do this stuff with ease, Eugene Sandow did one arm chins and handstand, John Grimak knocked out full range of motion handstand pushups and one arm chins like they were nothing (7 one arm chins for a guy 210 plus he was an olympic lifter), and then there was Bert Assirati a 230 pound man that did Iron crosses, one arm handstands, handstand pushups and one arm chinups.

These arent just speculation either plenty of picture all over the net and even videos if you just search. I am not some bodyweight nazi and not even saying that everyone should be doing this type of training, but lets not use the excuse that big legs are what’s keeping people from doing planches or one arm chinups.

I’m sure i can do that if i didnt have a job and kicked it in a park playing with all the jungle gym bars and kids ladders. But then again, i like having money, going to the gym, and being able to afford gym memberships.

That’s EXACTLY why you can’t do it.

Though, I do find it funny that he is that strong but still not strong enough to pull up his pants.

And this guy is yet more gansta: Danny Rodrigues (FRA) on rings - YouTube

He’s the only guy ever to succesfully perform the victorian; the move where he’s parallel to the ground facing up.

I think the guy in the first video is called hannibal for king Web Hosting, Reseller Hosting & Domain Names from Heart Internet
pretty cool stuff he is able to do.

the stuff that guy does is very impressive, and I watched it all the way through even though I’ve seen it before. However, to compare what he does to a guy that squats, benches and pulls, is retarded. two different things.

“yea but how much can he squat?”

give me a fuckin break

I know this is an old post, but what’s impressive about clapping pull ups??

Theyre not exactly hard to do.

They are not, just like one legged squats arent that impressive either (not sarcastic) its just that most people dont try or do stuff like that so they see a muscle up (which isnt that hard either if you can do clapping pullups you can do a muscle up) and are amazed. Hell most people don’t know the difference between a one arm chinup and a one hand chinup (where the other hand holds onto the wrist) thinking that they are equally hard.

The stuff they can do is amazing, it’s just a shame that they are all annoying as shit (at least IMO).

you can’t really see his legs but you have to assume he is pretty top heavy in terms of overall strength. i’m not knocking the guy though, that was impressive and very smooth[/quote]

Dude, he’s from the inner city. He SPRINTS! Sprinters have huge ripped legs.
