I’m not well rounded, nor am I sane. But I don’t care about peoples drinking habits.
My whole mindset for the last couple of months has been to drink minimally and avoid it if possible. I felt like time would be better spent doing things like working out, reading etc.
Well, I got tanked last night with some friends. Woke up, no hangover, played a round of golf with some buddies and got tanked all over again after the round. And I’m probably gonna have a few more beers with my brother tomorrow while watching the Lakers beat the Cavs. I must say, this weekend has been a HELLUVA lot more fun than some of my more sober weekends.
I am not big on drinking because I don’t like being drunk. I hate to not be able to control my movements. Plus I can dance way better, and approach girls way better when I am sober.
So weekends for me are:
-Go out clubbing, dance and meet girls.
the funny thing is… people are a LOT easier to get along with when they are drunk they are relaxed, easy going, and chill. I wish people behaved like drunks they are sober.
Another thing about drinking… I decline drinks with a confident smile on my face! And move on with the conversation… and NOBODY looks at me weird.
I drank from a young age. Solid. As any self respecting chest beating Australian male does. But then…

That pretty much sums it up for me too. When I did I started seeing this whole new world where sober people dwelled and prospered. They call it Saturday and Sunday. Until I stopped drinking I never realised the sun shone then? I’d seen a hint of it through the odd pub window and heard the odd late night tale of a strange being, who only came out in it’s presence. I thought the sun was there just to tell you when to go crash. (scratches head…)
They do stuff too. Like get up at 7am and go to the park to walk their dogs and hang out together. They breathe deep, fresh lung fulls of crisp morning air and seem to thrive as the sun rises over the masts of the yachts on the harbour. They walk arm in arm laughing like kookaburra’s in each others company at jokes that once started, are always finished. And make sense!
No one’s bent over like a tennis shoe in the corner, stuck to the couch like a boiled lolly dribbling on themseves. No ones dropping shit everwhere and struggling to find their wallet half covered in spilt beer. And most strange, they seem not to enjoy pushing each other down really steep hills in shopping trolleys.

That’s just propaganda.
I like waking up in some broad’s bed with a massive hangover feeling like I’m living a Rod Stewart song.
If anything when going out, just get a water or whatever beverage of your choice that doesn’t have to be alcohol.
It is possible to balance sobriety and social life, but your friends need to be supportive and understanding of your choice rather than try to criticize you for not fitting in.
If you have good friends, then don’t be afraid to get out and have some fun. You don’t have to drink, just be yourself and communicate effectively with others!!!
Just like many of you in here, I stopped drinking also. Pretty much same reasons as most of you’s: adds fat, kills progress, next day you feel like shit, its pointless, and I don’t want to fuck a fat bitch.
It’s actually pretty hard to not drink here in NY in my age (I’m 21). I could go onto just deny every drink, but then I would have to deal with the endless amount of drunk morons telling me that I think I’m better than them, so I chose to make friends with the bartender and make deal with him to get me non-alcoholic drinks.
Or I order red wine. Much better taste than any alcohol+ it’s actually good for you
I too quit drinking years ago. I guess I just outgrew it. It is to the point that “Wow, you’re have a beer?” is what I hear. No one even questions my non-drinking. But we all still have fun. To each his own I guess. And I do like beer so cold that it has ice forming in it.
I don’t not drink - I like a gaudy cocktail as much as the next girl - but it’s a very rare occurrence. My dad got drunk a lot when I was a kid and it put me off (he wasn’t violent or anything, but just turned into a slurring, drooling embarrassment). Eventually he got diabetes and then a stroke. I definitely don’t want that.
