I recently saw a Cap Barbell that was under $200.00, had great reviews and is apparently very stiff. It was a 1500lb test bar and all black. Has anyone here ever used such a bar? It sounds too good to be true.
I do not know if I have seen that one personally. I have seen an all black cap barbell for sale for around $180 or so, and noticed that the knurling was pretty much non-existent compared to a texas power bar. It seemed pretty much cosmetic. Take that for what it’s worth.
There’s a cheaper CAP bar around $120 that I’d recommend to everyone. I use mine just as much as the Texas Power bar and deadlift bar I own. It’s a huge steal. At $200, I would just move up to a Texas Power Bar
I have that bar. You can check my log any Bench sessions I do at home are with that bar. Tony Evans has had it loaded to 500 for a double and was great for Bench. I have had it well over 500 on many occasions squatting and another training partner of mine has it 600 plus on deadlifts. Its a pretty nice bar for the price for sure. Has never let me down. It is very stiff and the knurling is not that great. Also the middle of it completely smooth so if your a low bar squatter you better hold onto it. Other than that no complaints at all.
I have a cheap CAP barbell that I use for rack pulls and its took a beating. It is very stiff. Not as stiff as a Texas bar. And it hasn’t warped at all. The knurl isn’t great though.

Do you think the buddy Capps TPB is stiff?? I have it and love it but I can see curvature with 315
Sounds great! I’m not too worried about the gnurl as a smoother gnurl in training just means a stronger grip in competition. The center gnurl can easily be replaced by a bit of athletic tape as well. Thank yall for your input.
