Me too! And Cleveland by way of attending Case Western Reserve University.
Hey I’m a Jr at Case. If you ever see an Asian dude with long hair at Veale, that’s me. What year are you?

Lived in Wooster for 13 years. Where do you train there?
I occasionally stop in town to see family and end up at the old YMCA…

North Olmsted (right west of Cleveland).
Work in Beachwood (east of Cleveland)

With the old UC rec, to get to the free weight area you had to walk by all the cardio equipment so it was easy to see any talent. With the new rec, you have to walk the complete opposite way.

The staff is hit or miss. Some are pretty cool and some feel the need to be dicks about everything. They don’t really mind deadlifts as long as you don’t make a lot of noise. They don’t like olympic lifts of any type.

The lazy river is about 97% guys

It’s a shame you guys won’t get to join Iron Cats.

what is, or was Iron Cats ?

And i’ll be a part of the Rec staff, so atleast one of the trainers won’t mind dead lifts and olympic lifts.

Haha, I had that feeling about the lazy river.

And I’m with JB, Iron Cats?

Until the end of September I still live in the NE Ohio area (Pepper Pike).

Titan’s Gym, do they have implements to train for strongman? If so, does anybody have any information, for instance would I be able to drive down there on the weekends to train events or something similar?
I’m sure you would be able to train on the weekends. You would just need to pay whatever their rates may be. Try their website - www.titansgym.com

Cincinnati - Colerain if anyone is familiar with the area.

Still in the NW region.

There is Blacks in Cleve, Headhunters in Wadsworth, and Circleville has a great group…and of course that crazy bunch down south that you guys already talked about!

It’s true about the cardio girls being too far away from the action. Guarantees that I don’t rest too much in between sets, though. There are a couple girls that I see in there pretty often that do deadlifts in sports bras though, that’s always a sight for sore eyes.

I see some people doing snatches, and they haven’t gotten yelled at. I’ve been meaning to start doing them so we’ll see if I get bitched at by the staff.

One other thing, make sure that you bring an MP3 player. They play music over the PA that actually makes me want to quit lifting.

I think Iron Cats was the lifting club, I’m not positive, though. Nothing to stop us from making one of our own.

Well, I know that Don Pope trains (or trained) there back when I was a member. I know they had a back parking lot where he’d throw around tractor tires, etc.
That is still my favorite gym I’ve belonged too. Plus they’re open 24hours, which is rare in Ohio.

Titan’s is also the home of Angelo Berardinelli, if you’re into powerlifting.

I would be so incredible in for getting a new club going if Iron Cats is now out of business.

Fuck ya, I would too. It’s not long now, about three weeks for me.

22 days for me.

yeah, im getting kinda eager.

Imagine all of your friends leaving, all of your class leaving,

and your still here with nothing left to do.

I’m kinda eager too :-\

on a side note, I couldn’t work out at my high school anymore because class started and time conflicts, so I joined Bally’s.

2 squat racks, a power rack, 2 leg press, hack squat machine, dumb bells to 110, and the guy said they don’t care about deadlifting or dropping weights (as long as it’s not Branch Warren style). The only way you could guess this is Bally’s is by the people in there…

edit: wow, exactly 22 days here too. Lookin’ forward to the 19th?

Athens OH, though only because I go to OU

UCs dumbbells only go up to 100lbs unfortunately. There are 4 half squat racks, 2 full racks, and 3 smith machines. There are 4 flat bench assemblies, and 2 that can be flat, incline, or decline. I’m not sure how many dumbbell benches etc they have, but it’s enough. That Bally’s sounds like its a nice set up.

I’ll have to look in to what is required to be an official UC group. My friend started up Brewcats (The home brew group) so he might know. Regardless if we’re official or not I’m sure we can make some kick ass shirts and sell them at cost. I know of a few guys already that would be interested.
