Are you fat, Cap’ain Planet? Cause you sure sound pissed about something. Been called a fatty lately?
But more on the point: who said being anti-fat meant being a dick to fat people’s face?

He gets touchy about any kind of perceived discrimination. Anyone remember the “Man crush” thread?
As far as fat people go, sometimes being a dick is necessary. Not always, but I sure think it could be used more.

Nope. I’m 5 10-11, about 185ish, probably mid teens bodyfat.
Annnnd to answer your second question, read back to the post where the guy talks about how “even if they are the smartest person in the world, I wouldnt listen to them…” and then procedes to blame our oil problems on them ordering pizza and using air conditioning.
Deleted. Decided that it wasn’t worth the electrons.
The biggest thing is overcomming the failure attitude that a lot of them have. A lot of them, even myself at one time, just don’t think its possible. I remember looking in a mirror one time wondering what it’s like to not be fat.

OK, no more excuses, got it? Good.

Boyos, if you’re going to diss me, diss me to my face!
I’m not sure where you guys are at on the “respect” issue. I’ve come into the thread late and I’ve been skimming.
I don’t have respect for someone just for being human. If someone is obese I don’t respect them unless it’s for some purpose like Sumo Wrestling. In that case I think they’re gross but I do respect them.
What I do have for fat people is great sympathy and compassion. I’d have respect for them if they respected themselves enough to have the discipline and do the planning necessary to get their weight under control.
It’s hard to read this thread and not think that some of the board members believe that it’s acceptable to treat obese people like objects, to be vilified and gawked at.

Capped, an analogy is a tool to explain a point. It’s not a substitute for reasoning or logic. If you could just compare discrimination against black people to discrimination against X people for any X and conclude that discrimination against X people was wrong, you could also conclude that discrimination against murderers was wrong.
People are pointing out where your analogy is not working. Being black is not a health risk, does not decrease one’s fitness, is not repulsive, and even if it were those things, there isn’t anything black people could do about it. This is a very different situation from obesity.
If you think you’re correct despite these differences, you’re going to have to EXPLAIN why. Just insisting “But I made an analogy!” gets you nowhere.
Very nicely put.

Fat people deserve to be treated with as much respect as people who aren’t fat.
Do you disagree with that statement?
I don’t think anyone has said that it should be socially acceptable to run around saying, “You’re fat!”
I have no idea what dragon you think you are slaying.

There are many disgraceful things than being fat. Not paying child support comes to mind. I didn’t even have to think to come up with that, so I imagine I could list over a dozen more after 30 seconds of reflection.

Somebody mentioned that they don’t take fat people, their opinions, or their ideas seriously. The quote, more or less verbatim, was;
“You could be the smartest person in the world and I still wouldn’t know it [because you’re fat.]”
Capped just meant to address that, a perfectly noble argument IMO.

Can you fucking read?
Here, a copy and paste of a post in this fucking thread
"These pictures
Those hugely fat people just piss me off. I dunno why, but I can’t stand obese people. They could be the smartest people in the world, and I wouldn’t listen to a word they were saying.
We need a new habit where if you see some HUGE person eating a cake or something fried we just go up and slap it out of their fat grubby hands. maybe if we did that America would be better off.
I mean no wonder we are using up all of the worlds fossil fuels. All the fuel is going to:
Gee, I dunno, theres someone suggesting that we walk up and SLAP food out of the hands of fat people.
But, uh… derrr…uhhh…
dats not da same as sayin “yer fat”…
Idiot.
Once again, your failure to actually read simple fucking words makes you look like more of an idiot than you are (I hope, anyway).
I suppose this will be just like the time you claimed I was arguing with you…then I copied and pasted what I said proving that I was agreeing with you… and you just ignored it.
So, unless you’re ready to admit that you were flat out wrong in stating that no one in this thread advocated disrespecting fat people… just stfu, kthnxbye. ![]()

This is an aesthetic judgment.
Do you believe that fat people are beautiful? When you see a fat person, do you feel inspired - much like you might be inspired after watching a gymnast?
Some think of the impact obese people have on the economy. They do use more scare resources. And with our system of semi-socialized medicine, they also raise health care costs.
Obesity is a public health crisis. Obese people are “sick” by choice. Is this a good thing in your judgment?

You claimed no one was advocating disrespecting fat people.
I showed you a post, in this thread, of someone advocating disrespecting fat people.
Now, you build the strawman that I’m saying being fat is good.
Face it, you were wrong. You were factually, inarguably, flatly… wrong.
Man up and admit it, kay peaches?
I think a lot of the people on here advocating outward disrespect of obese people may be jumping on a bandwagon. It’s easy to see these threads as an opportunity to justify your way of life, or lift yourself up at someone else’s expense. I also think that everyone is guilty of doing that, at some point in time during their life.
I hope my first post did not impress on anyone the idea that I thought it was ok to disrespect obese, that was not my intention.
I do not however think Obese people should get special treatment for their affliction unless they can show proof that they are trying to overcome it. Even if it is the case that some of these people will remain fat no matter what they do. I do not think it is without their realm of possibility to at least control it.
I think it is possible for some of them to maintain acceptable levels of BF%. By acceptable I mean being able to do everything required in a normal day without any outside help.

I never said that. I asked you a couple of questions to test your arguments. You are unwilling to answer them, presumably because you are afraid to have your arguments tested.

Peaches? Seriously, who says this? Damn, I am on the wrong site.

hahahahahaha.
Come on dude, now you’re just being pathetic. Stop grasping at straws,be a fucking manand say “I didn’t read the whole thread and I was wrong”
Is it really that hard?
And this shit about “testing my argument” proves that you were trying to build a strawman. My argument was that fat people deserve respect. Period. Thats it.
Asking if I think its GOOD to be fat has nothing to do with if fat people deserve respect.
