I have had wierd experiences with sumo before. I can handle speed wieght and up to 80 percent of my max or so easier than conventional, but my form collapses with the heavier attempts. I think that it will work out in the end, but it will be at war with my body to get it.

That’s just the way it is with sumo… I pull sub-max weight’s faster sumo too. To be honest I stay away from max attempts sumo unless I’m at least wearing a suit straps down because I just dn’t have the ability to break the bar off the floor and not turn it into a wide stance stiff leg DL.

diablo is a great gym, and a great group of guys. sometimes they are a little too tunnel visioned for my tastes, but sometimes to excel in a specific area, a bit of tunnel vision is needed.
it is almost impossible NOT to get strong while training there(UNLESS YOU ARE ME, LOL).
tell everyone i said hi. and keep the thread going, all the vids bring back memories.

It is good to hear from you. I was dissapointed that you werent here when I first joined up. Thank you for first introducing me to Diablo.
Here is a video from our last meet held here at Diablo. This is Ken. After a rough start at Diablo, Ken went from the worst squat form ever at Diablo to an absolute technician. Here he is with a PR on the squat 733lbs!
Face pulls 4x15
Shrugs against Blue Bands 2x15
Overhead Shrugs (Fat Bar) 135x5
Curl Press Combo 2x8
Feeling a little better. Didnt have any energy after the presses, so I reduced the amount of weight from what I normally use. Ill upload some videos from the workout later tonight.
Cool log, keep up the good work. How do you do the tates with the sled? Sounds like a killer move. When do you do your pulling? Way back when I was into PLing I always did my best pulls after DE squats. It also helped me get into the groove with sumos.
I pulled almost all my gym PRs after DE squats. DE squats used to wear me the fuck out too. Go figure? Maybe it is a CNS thing. Anyway, you guys are the experts just thought I might help.
Thanks for the advice. Yeah, we generally pull after our squats on DE day. Im a fat ass, so I am usually tired after squats. However, My last squat workout with the anderson squat really showed me how to load up my hips for a pull though, and I am looking forward to trying them out on DE squat day.
Reverse band deadlift (green)
135x5, 225x5, 315x5, 365x3, 405x3, 455x1, 505xmissx2 out of positionx2
dimel deadlifts
185x20x2
fat man ghrs, hypers, spud abs triset
technique work
sumo 135x10
conv. 135x10
Todays workout could have been looked at as a failure, but the sumo deadlift is coming along very well. If I can just keep on improving my technique, I am sure that I will make this work.
I did my DE bench at another gym. It really is not worth mentioning. I hate commercial gyms.
