Another 5X5 Question

How would you incoperate power cleans in to bill starrs intermediate routine?

I haven’t seen Bills program, but a general rule of thumb is to perform explosive/dynamic lifts early in the routine.

Read more from the website, he tells you what to substitute this for (I believe you can do power cleans/high pulls instead of deadlifts)

i want to keep doing deadlifts once a week on wednesdays thou

I was thinking of doing power cleans monday and friday, first lift 2 sets of 8-10 reps

or possibly doing something like powerclean/push press on a off day once a week

If you want to continue doing deads along with the cleans, you may want to switch to hang power cleans… considering the first pull of a clean is basically a DL.

In Madcow’s version (don’t know Starr’s original off the top of my head), you do squats, cleans, and bench press on Monday and Friday, and squats, deadlifts, and incline (or military) on Wednesday, plus assistance each day.

Post the program you are referring to. There are a thousand different versions of this program.
