Anna's Training Log Part 2 (Part 1)

I’m highly confused by this; you did 1 hour of bottoms-up carries per arm?

20m my bad

Week 3: Day 3

Deadlift: 1x5-60,70,80,90, 4x4-100, 2x3-105, 3x5-90
Bench: 1x10-30,35, 1x6-40,45, 3x4-50, 2x6-45, 2x8-40, 1x10-30,35
Seated Row:2x10-55

  • deadlifts felt disappointingly maximal, but I expected that, mentally harder than anything- proud that I got through, Bench felt strong but took forever, seated rows not bad

Week 3: Day 4

This morning’s pic:

Weight: 41.0

Lateral arc trainer: 10min
Rower: 10min
Treadmill: 10min incline walk
Tricep push downs: 2x20-22.5, 1x(10-17,5+10-22.5+10-27.5

  • felt good, expected to be more sore/tired, lateral machine a lot harder than expected (first time trying), rest of cardio felt quick and good, pumped triceps

@Pinkylifting I’ve been at 41kg for the past 3 weeks or so, would increasing food by “100cals” be reasonable? Or should I wait a bit

Absolutely. Id lean towards +200, +100 is probably too small to notice much.

I’d also make sure all of those calories are coming from good fat sources or starchy carbs, not from extra veggies.

Your weight is up and you are as lean as ever, this is great progress.

LOL! I’m probably eating at least 200 untracked calories from leafy greens/mushrooms

And those might actually interfere with your ability to assimilate the other calories into useful stuff such as muscle and other tissues that need repairing.

By my estimates that’s more than a kilo of mushrooms (18kcal/100g) or slightly less than a kilo of spinach (23kcal/100g). Granted, there are probably some types of mushroom with a higher calorie content, and leafy greens with a higher caloric content (kale) but still. That’s a lot of just… material to pass through your body potentially inhibiting the uptake of other nutrients. And if you have to eat that much to feel satisfied I’d take that as an indication that you’re “starving”.

Well, I might be overestimating a bit, but in Shanghai, I definitely get over a kilo of veggies a day

And that sounds excessive as a baseline.

When dieting I’ll gladly stuff my face with 6-10 cups of vegetables per day to (almost) stay satiated. But when gaining, I don’t know, 1-2 cups and 2-4 pieces of fruit is perfectly adequate. At most, I’d go for,

  1. Take your bodyweight in kilos, (41.0)
  2. Multiply by ten, (410),
  3. Add a “gram” marker (410g),

and treat that as the upper end of your vegetable intake. That’s slightly more than 2 cups on average.

I’ve been wondering if potassium content plays a part in your food choices?

Also, super looking pumped lateral veins on the bicep.

thanks!

nope. should I be paying attention? I know I definitely eat WAY too much sodium. At this point, I think Heinz should sponsor me based on how much pickles and mustard I eat

I dunno. That would be more of a question for your doc/nephrologist.

I did notice that a couple of your main choices (spinach, shrooms, salmon) are good sources.

It was more out of curiosity than anything, and since it is good for helping the kidneys clear sodium and fluid regulation, it’s been a focal point for me. I’m doing a baked potato a day experiment to see how that effects my BP and fluid volume, etc. And some really good salmon & spinach sammiches lately.

They are a local treasure. Did you go for the Picklesburgh celebration? I couldn’t. No way. I like pickles, ketchup, and all kinds of those goodies, but I gotta respect the limits.

I was very very very sad to miss it

There will be others. I think that has become an annual thing now.

@Pinkylifting my weight’s doing weird things again. Woke up at 41.7, abs gone and pretty backed up :poop:

These things are known for having no calories.

Why not channel that into eating meat?

Diet been consistent over the last two/three days? <y advice is the same as the last time, relax and give it a few days. Last time it was apparently all in your head, very likely is this time too.

I cover my meat with mustard

Right: so now eat less pickles and more meat.

Much like the whipped cream thing, pickles are something people on a diet eat so that they can feel full while consuming few calories. I have done that to cut weight.

And mustard is a other famous “no calorie condiment” for dieters. You are trying to go the other direction.

My wife eats pickles like they’re going out of style. But she’s Ukrainian, so they’re basically a necessity.
