Does this have anything to do with Meta/Facebook?

No. It means I’m not made of sugar

Nah it’s most commonly used as a taunt by parents, trainers or peers if a kid doesn’t want to go outside in the rain, haha.
Like “why are you afraid of getting wet. You aren’t made out of sugar, are you?”.

Or it’s used as an old school statement about being tough/ resilient/ enduring (in younger generation often used with a bit of a chuckle to it).

Congratulations, @anna_5588! This is huge.

I know how hard you’ve worked—in and out of the classroom—and it’s been a privilege to follow along for the past few years.

I’m looking forward to what’s next for you!

I had a final meeting with my advisor and the department head yesterday . They said I was their “star student” and that they had high expectations for me.

My friend (that one) also said in front of his GF that I’d be “the next loewenstein”

The pressure. Is. ON.

Do you find you perform better when you put this sort of pressure on yourself?

I honestly do not know.

I’ve always felt under pressure to excel academically.

It started with my parents. They pulled back the throttle after high school, but in uni, I started getting advisors and met my friend (that one)

That’s why I’m curious. Here, you’re putting the pressure on yourself, so I was curious why choose that vs not. Some folks like pressure, but for those that don’t, it could be a poor strategy.
