I will second this. I went to college as an “early to bed, early to rise” type person and college got much better for me when I adjusted that around a bit and was more social at night.
It’s impolite to answer a question with a question ![]()
I take it the answer is “nothing”.
I would consider research, as that’s something you seem to appreciate doing. Existentialism is where I would start.
You are giving yourself a bedtime, because you want to make sure you are adequately rested and ready…to go to bed on time. You are bypassing the very opportunities that being well rested would be beneficial for in order to ensure you get more rest. It’s quite interesting.
I am going to stay quiet here. LOL
I am not a polite person ![]()
Neither was Socrates, haha.
I think you are being hard on yourself, I find that you very politely offend people on her often.
@cyclonengineer most of the social activity I am interested in is done before my bedtime. I’ve actually set up “cooking dates” with a couple of sorority sisters and there’s always Econ research club.
“Having fun” in the typical sense isn’t really something I enjoy anyways, regardless of time
@T3hPwnisher not being tired = I can be a functional human. I already lack social skills, lack of sleep turns off my ability to edit myself. Not being tired also let’s me do well in school, and do the things I enjoy
Stuff about Existentialism will be on my reading list, after I finish molecules of emotion, a proofs book and “great depressions of the 20th century”
Not allowing people to deflect or redirect can be infuriating!
you lost me, I will try to reflect on this more later.
Just referring to several exchanges where he concisely (and politely) stays on point and people become flustered and angry.
A series of exchanges with a particularly oblique grumpy old guy comes to mind.
For what function? You are missing out on much of the human experience in your quest to be a functioning human.
Sheiko 37 week2: day1
Consolidated the squat portions, did 1 min rests for the 5x5-65kg superset push-ups w/db bench-20lb dbs, for the db bench, I focused on stretching at the bottom and pressed the dbs together at the top so it was kind of like a fly
- felt really good going in- slept well, squats moved well and went by quick, bench felt nice too, overall awesome workout.
Updates: 1st day of school!!!
Everything is amazing!!! Profs, classes…
Also met a few friends and profs irl and have more plans tomorrow
Something weird: after one of my classes today, my friend (that one) decided to come sit at my table to finish some work.
- There were a bunch of empty tables
- He mentioned that he felt “out of depth” in the class bc he had little knowledge of current events/ countries The class doesn’t really require knowing current events/countries as much as computational knowledge, which he is very proficient at
Why is it so difficult for you to accept that some people may want to spend time with you for whatever reasons they have?
You don’t need to wonder why they want to spend time with you. I learned that is a waste of time and does nothing but push people away.
I did the same thing in college. I pushed away several women that approached me out of the blue because I was way too shy.
Now, a long time out of college, I fully understand what people mean by making the most out of college- it is likely to be the only time in your life where you have enough time to simultaneously do work (on school work, that is) and have ready access to peers to mingle with. You will not have this once you graduate unless you work in a place that has a lot of people your age. And then you’ll probably be so busy with work that you cannot mingle.
Expand your mind Anna. Free yourself from whatever preconceived notions you have of yourself and what life is supposed to be. You can always return to doing the EXACT SAME THING once you graduate.
Finally, a format other people can understand.
To add to some of these comments.
In my first three years at University I was very much like you. Quiet and not outgoing. My biggest priorities were exercise and food and rest. I rarely went out, rarely drank, always avoided clubs out of fear that I’d have to dance.
Then I moved into a house with some teammates who exposed me to the other side of things. It was the best year of my life and completely life changing. Most of my closest friends I met that year. Constantly going out for food or drinks, parties, late nights at the bar, it was a complete 180. Funny thing is, it was also my most productive year in the gym as well.
Try some new things and enjoy it while it lasts.
I’m confused by this Squat workout. It seems like you ramp up to 5 x 3 @ 80%, so far so normal. Then you go away, do some Bench work and come back to squat to ramp up to another 5 x 5 @ 70%, is that how it’s meant to be laid out? It seems odd.
Yes, that is how it’s supposed to be laid out. I consolidate squat work though so it’s squat squat bench instead of squat bench squat
Definitely an unorthodox approach, but a legit training technique not uncommon to Russian coaches, to get in more overall volume at a (relatively) higher percentage and build work capacity.
You’re doing the first batch of squat sets, then essentially “resting” the lower body for however long the chest work takes (20-30 minutes maybe?), then hitting more squats at the end, as opposed to just doing a ton of squats and ending up with lower quality work towards the end due to cumulative fatigue.
It’s one of the “tricks” talked about here: Powerlifting Tricks For Regular Joes
You will get better results if you do programs the way they’re laid out by the expert coaches who designed them. I know that you know that.
Good to know.
@anna_5588 that was a genuine question, not me trying to be a smartass, in case that wasn’t clear.
I know
@Chris_Colucci I’m not questioning Sheiko. due to COVID restrictions, we are given 1hour to workout. It isn’t really efficient to do things Sheiko’s way It’s already pretty difficult to get all the main work in within the hour without having to change the setup two times mid workout.
I do not have a lot of classes, but they are a awkward times so my chances of accessing a rack in the afternoons is minimal
