Anna's Training Log Part 2 (Part 1)

The main work takes me about an hour. I go back in the pm to do accessory work which takes around 20-30min

Does your school have a weightlifting/powerlifting club? They might have a separate gym on campus that is less crowded (this is how it was where I went to school, the weight club had the better power racks/bars and was never crowded).

Yes, but they don’t have a separate gym. Their training is also past my bedtime

My legs are “average” and average is fat in the US

I certainly don’t look like I lift considering that quite a few ppl who I know for a fact don’t lift have nicer looking legs than me

Have you seen the “average” US woman lately? You are nowhere near that and at least 50 lbs lighter, plus your BMI has you barely in the “normal” category right now. Most people in the US are in the overweight category.

You’ve mentioned a bedtime on several occasions. Who is dictating you, an adult who isn’t living at home, a bedtime?

I set a strict bedtime of 9:30 pm for myself.

I naturally wake up early and my sleep quality is crap, so I need to get to bed early or else I’m useless the next day

So you’re missing opportunities because you force yourself to adhere to a self set bedtime? I don’t know what to say here. Life will require you to stay up past 9.30

Humans adapt.

This is that whole “doing vs being” thing all over again.

Not really. I would stay up if I deemed it extremely important (ie family emergency)

I still don’t understand this

What have you done to attempt to understand it?

A family emergency is an opportunity? I mean it can be if we want to be super nit picky but I’m pretty sure you can guess what I really mean by opportunity, no?

Adjust your schedule and determine the root cause of your sleep issues. I truly believe training with some serious weightlifters will teach you a lot.

I thought getting stronger was extremely important to you? And in a similar vein, I thought developing a social life within a sorority was also important to you?

I am with Anna on this one, 9.30 is an awesome bedtime.

My grandparents had a similar feel about that. Just saying.

But to stay the course and I’m sure you’re well aware of that: It’s not the time per se that I’m challenging.

Yeah, I have no defense. I also wake up super early.

@cyclonengineer The club is/was not very serious at all and most members don’t attend group training sessions.

@dagill2 Most sorority events are in the early evening. There are many other ways to socialize that do not involve staying up past 9:30

@Cyrrex Thanks for supporting my opinion

How can I work towards something if I do not know what I am working towards?

I think the general point here, however…is that you should take a few risks and put yourself out there in social situations and things like that. Even if it goes past bedtime.
