Anna's Training Log Part 2 (Part 1)

Here is what I don’t understand…since you cannot follow it as prescribed, why bother? Do a program you can actually follow.

You always do things that sabotage yourself, and that is before we even begin talking all the counter-productive cardio you tend to do.

I getcha. Gym restrictions like that can suck, but you’re cramming a square peg in a round hole. Like I explained, the squat-bench-squat layout is a key part of the programming that delivers a big chunk of the benefits.

If you can’t keep that structure, it’s really not the right plan. Like trying to do Starting Strength without a squat rack and barbell.

I didn’t catch what your current training goal is, but zero doubt there are more effective plans that work within the current gym limitations without sacrificing results.

I’m guessing, if you’re doing Sheiko, your primary goal is strength? I’d look into clusters, EMOM, or EDT. Those will all squeeze quality work into minimum time.

I really like the style (high volume on main lifts with little else). I was also having a lot of success with it pre pandemic doing it this way and I kind of feel obligated to finish and see what I can do.

Week 2: day 2 (yesterday)
5x(5devils press-27.5lb dbs+max devils press in rest on min-20lb dbs)-1min rests btw sets
Pull-ups: 2x3-3330tempo, 3x4
3x(12cable row-40lbs+15tricep push down-17.5lbs)
Handstand stuff

  • quick workout, love the devils press- wanted 30lb presses but struggles to snatch it, got a good upper back pump and got HR up

Week 2: day3

  • pretty tired (slept poorly) and deadlifts felt hard to get through… :sob:, raining in morning → gym crowd in the afternoon, had to use the business school gym to do accessory work. The gym only have dbs that go up to 35lbs so 5x5 lunges didn’t happen, replaced w/ 5x(5db thrusters-35lb dbs+ max lunges in rest of min)-1min rests, db press/flyes were done with 20lb dbs and supersetted w/bench work

@SkyzykS i hate pissburgh weather…

Well. It’s pretty obvious what it thinks of you too!

Look on the bright side.

Those weighted shrimp squats or whatever you call them would be a great replacement for 5x5 lunges. Better than thrusters.
And flies would be better supersetted with deadlifts. Let your pressing muscles rest between sets of bench.

Week2: day4 (Thursday)
Bike: 5miles easy
Play around w/bottoms up kb press

  • felt good, got HR up a bit, legs struggling more than anything

Week 2: day5 (yesterday)

  • sheiko was nice! felt iffy going in- literally almost passed out on first set of warmups, squats moved well though, did everything beltless, 20lb dbs for the press/fly things, supersetted with squats, used 50kg for lunges. Less ppl workout Friday afternoons turns out

:astonished:

Must be exercise bike, right?

There are some nauseating/awesome biking routes around, but I know we talked about that before.

First, congrats on the PR!

Second, I hope you note the relationship…more bodyweight = more strength. This is the way.

Why do you use your phone to photograph your screen? Wouldn’t it be easier to just snap a portion of your screen using the snipping tool or something similar and just pasting that into your post?

PR-atulations on ten chins!

I take a photo of the workout so I don’t have to take my computer to the gym

Now we gotta see some reps.

We don’t have fractional plates so I rounded 77kg up

You just need to be more creative. Get one of those big ass water bottles and some duct tape.

:face_with_monocle:
Are you being serious?
